Why we like it

Earns its place in the superhive library as a viewport measurement utility that reads geometry from your selection, takes object scale into account and follows Blender's unit settings.

What is Styriam Quick Measure?

Styriam Quick Measure is an interface utility for Blender that draws area, volume, length, distance and angle values directly in the 3D viewport. You enable it from the Quick Measure panel in the viewport overlays, and it reads measurements from your current selection while trying to take object scale into consideration.

What you see depends on what you select. A vertex reports the corner angles of faces, an edge or two vertices give distance along with delta x, y and z, and two edges or four points return the angle between them, even when the edges are disconnected. Using the "Display Length/Area of selection" operator from the context menu shows the combined length of selected edges and area of selected faces until the selection changes, and volume calculation was added in version 1.1.0.

Measurements work across multiple objects at once in multi-object edit mode using world scale, and Blender's unit settings are supported. Text size is adjustable, 3D text sizes itself automatically to fit each face, and text colors can be set to respond to 3D Viewport theme colors. It supports Blender 3.6 through 5.0 under a GPL license.

Who is Styriam Quick Measure best for?

Styriam Quick Measure is best for blender users who need on-the-fly area, volume, length, distance and angle readouts in the 3D viewport, including across multiple objects in edit mode.

How much does Styriam Quick Measure cost?

Styriam Quick Measure is completely free to download and use.

Frequently asked questions

What Blender versions does Styriam Quick Measure support?

Styriam Quick Measure supports Blender versions 3.6 through 5.0, covering a wide span of recent releases. Because it works as an overlay in the 3D viewport, you enable it through the Quick Measure panel found in the viewport overlays, and Blender's text overlays need to be turned on for the measurements to display. It is distributed under a GPL license. For the most current version and any compatibility notes, it is best to check the developer's page before installing.

How do I enable Styriam Quick Measure in the viewport?

Styriam Quick Measure is enabled from the Quick Measure panel located in the viewport overlays. Once you open that panel and switch on the overlay, measurements appear directly in the 3D viewport based on your current selection. One requirement to keep in mind is that Blender's text overlays must be enabled as well, otherwise the measurement values will not be drawn on screen. From there, selecting vertices, edges or faces produces the relevant readouts.

Can Styriam Quick Measure measure multiple objects at once?

Styriam Quick Measure can measure multiple objects at once when you are in multi-object edit mode. It supports world-scale multi-object measurements and tries to take each object's scale into consideration, which matters when objects have different scale values applied. It also respects Blender's unit settings, so readouts follow the units configured for the scene. Alongside single-selection results, you can display the combined length of selected edges and the area of selected faces across your selection.

What does the Display Length/Area of selection operator do?

Styriam Quick Measure includes a "Display Length/Area of selection" operator that you run from the context menu. It shows the combined length of selected edges and the area of selected faces, and those values stay on screen until the selection changes. This is separate from the live readouts you get from individual vertices, edges or faces. Volume calculation is also available, added in version 1.1.0, giving you another quantity to read in the viewport.

Is Styriam Quick Measure free?

Styriam Quick Measure is listed as free in this catalog and is distributed under a GPL license. Licensing terms can change over time, so for the current details and any updates it is best to check the developer's page directly. The add-on has moved through several releases, with volume calculation added in version 1.1.0 and later bugfix updates addressing selection display and a possible crash when disabling the add-on.
