Worth noting the round trip is lossy for NURBS-purist workflows, since geometry moves as polygon mesh.
Super3D Import & Export .Iges is a Blender add-on for working with the IGES (.iges) format, the historical neutral CAD interchange defined by ANSI. IGES carries NURBS surfaces and curves and remains a requirement in many established engineering pipelines and supplier handoffs. The add-on lets you open these drawings in Blender for visualization.
Import and export run through dedicated File menu entries. Picking File → Import → Super3D: IGES uploads the file to the Super3D conversion service, then downloads and merges the result into your active scene, with NURBS surfaces tessellated to clean polygon mesh and assembly hierarchy preserved where present. Export sends the scene to OBJ on the main thread, converts that to .iges via Super3D, and saves it to disk. Because conversion runs in the cloud, Blender stays lightweight.
It's tested on Blender 4.2 through 5.1 and packaged as a focused add-on under GPL licensing. Pure surface IGES may import as open shells that need repair in Blender, and IGES doesn't carry PMI or GD&T annotations.

Super3D Import & Export .Iges is tested on Blender 4.2 through 5.1, and its legacy bl_info entry covers Blender 4.0 and later. If you run a version inside the tested 4.2–5.1 window, you're on supported ground. For older 4.0 or 4.1 installs, the legacy entry indicates coverage, though the tested range is where behaviour is confirmed. Check the developer's page for the latest details before installing on a version outside that tested span.
Super3D Import & Export .Iges runs its file conversion in the cloud through the Super3D service, so you don't need any separate cross-vendor CAD interchange software installed locally. You only need Blender and an internet connection. Because the heavy conversion happens remotely, Blender stays lightweight during import and export. On import the add-on uploads your file, then downloads and merges the result into the active scene; on export it saves the converted .iges to disk.
Super3D Import & Export .Iges handles the .iges format, but STEP is the modern successor and is preferred for most pipelines. Reach for IGES when a supplier specifically demands it, or when you're working with legacy archives that only exist in that format. The developer suggests exporting to IGES only when a downstream consumer explicitly asks for it, otherwise favouring STEP. That keeps IGES as the compatibility option it was designed to be rather than a default handoff.
Super3D Import & Export .Iges tessellates NURBS surfaces to clean polygon mesh when importing, so the smooth CAD geometry becomes faceted geometry inside Blender. The original .iges file still retains its NURBS data, so keep that source file if you need a NURBS-accurate handoff downstream. Export is similarly lossy for NURBS-purist pipelines, since Blender meshes leave as polygon faces wrapped in an IGES container. Assembly hierarchy is preserved where present on both import and export.
Super3D Import & Export .Iges ships as a separate extension with its own ID and operator names, so you can install it alongside other Super3D format add-ons without conflicts. Each format is packaged as its own focused add-on rather than one combined tool. If you want every supported format together, the developer also offers a bundle called the Super3D Extra Format Bridge. Otherwise this single-format add-on covers the IGES workflow on its own.
