Why we like it

Supertabs earns its place for consolidating sidebar organization across multiple Blender editors in a non-destructive, fully reversible system. Note that it can't run alongside another N-panel manager without causing conflicts.

What is Supertabs?

Supertabs turns Blender's sidebar from a tool list into a controllable workspace system. You can create unlimited N-panels as main groups and unlimited tab groups as sub groups, then reorder, rename, and assign icons to them. It can also merge multiple add-ons into one N-panel and hide sub-panels inside add-ons.

The add-on works across the 3D View, Image & UV Editor, and the Shader, Geometry, Texture, and Compositor node editors. Workflow acceleration features include quick shortcuts, favorite tab presets, pie menu and right-click access, Focus Mode on left click, and Stack Mode on shift-click. An Operations Center exposes editor-specific tools for the 3D View, UV Editor, node editors, and image editor.

Configurations save as JSON and auto-restore on Blender startup, and the Add-ons Hub tracks installed add-ons, their enabled or disabled state, favorites, and presets. Supertabs supports Blender 4.5-5.1, is non-destructive, does not modify Blender core files, and is fully reversible.

Who is Supertabs best for?

Supertabs is best for power users, studio pipeline setups, and add-on collectors managing large numbers of add-ons; it is not aimed at beginners using only a handful of add-ons.

How much does Supertabs cost?

Supertabs is completely free to download and use.

Frequently asked questions

Which Blender versions does Supertabs support?

Supertabs supports Blender versions 4.5 through 5.1. Its bundled add-ons compatibility list was tested on Blender 5.1.2 and covers tools such as UVPackmaster, Zen UV, BoxCutter, KitOPS, BlenderKit, and Poly Haven. Compatibility is verified only for the tested version, so updating an add-on may affect how well Supertabs controls it. Some add-ons manage their own N-panel, which can prevent full control; the developer asks users to reach out if that happens so possible fixes can be looked into.

Can Supertabs run alongside another N-panel manager?

Supertabs cannot be used together with another N-panel manager, since running two at once causes conflicts. The developer recommends sticking with a single add-on to handle your N-panel architecture. Keep in mind that some add-ons manage their own N-panel in ways that can prevent Supertabs from fully controlling them. If you run into that, the developer invites you to get in touch so possible compatibility fixes can be explored.

Does Supertabs modify Blender's core files?

Supertabs is a non-destructive system that does not modify Blender's core files and is fully reversible, so you can disable it safely. It reports no performance impact and works without breaking add-ons. This design means you can experiment with sidebar structures, focus modes, and tab groups, then roll everything back if a layout doesn't suit your workflow, all without leaving permanent changes to your Blender installation.

Can I share Supertabs setups across machines or with a team?

Supertabs saves your configuration as JSON and auto-restores it on Blender startup. Through the Add-ons Hub you can export add-on state to JSON, back up and recover add-ons along with their enabled or disabled states, and restore your setup across machines. For teams, this lets you standardize the UI, share a JSON configuration, and restore an identical workspace instantly to maintain a structured production environment.

Is Supertabs free?

Supertabs is listed as free here. For current licensing details, check the developer's page. Worth noting from the developer: Supertabs does not participate in Superhive's Support Period system, which means both support and lifetime updates are provided free with no renewal fees. A demo video is also available if you'd like to see more of the system before setting it up.
