SwitchR stands out in the superhive library for pairing 1-Click material application with import cleanup in one addon. Extruded Knowledge is upfront that it's still work in progress, with a handful of documented bugs to keep in mind.
SwitchR is the smaller companion to Extruded Knowledge's BatchR addon, aimed at speeding up shader work during Blender archviz projects. Its 1-Click Material methods let you add your own favorite materials, then apply and browse them across your models in seconds. The addon ships with more than 30 CC0 textures to get started.
The Smart Wizard drives the 1-Click workflow: add empty shaders to your mesh, name them properly (such as wood or leather), select the mesh, and apply. Alongside materials, SwitchR handles mesh cleanup common to imported assets, including recalculating normals, clearing sharp edges, and setting origin to bottom, center or top. You can also toggle between a set of HDRIs and add realism touches like fuzz, scratches and fingerprints.
Extruded Knowledge describes SwitchR as work in progress with known limitations. Some textures may change the material node setup irreversibly, browsing scratches and fingerprints can leave shader nodes messy, and pressing undo in render mode may force Blender to close, more often on low-RAM hardware. Feedback is collected through the developer's Discord.
Switchr - Your 1-Click Archviz Companion is best for blender archviz artists who want to speed up material application and clean up imported mesh assets.
Switchr - Your 1-Click Archviz Companion is completely free to download and use.
SwitchR includes mesh tools aimed at cleaning up assets that come in badly from other software. It can repair and improve mesh from bad imports, recalculate normals, and clear sharp edges. You can also set an object's origin to bottom, center or top. Extruded Knowledge notes the whole addon is optimized for speed, since archviz work often involves problems like wrong size, bad normals and hard edges, so these fixes run within seconds rather than being handled by hand.
SwitchR's Smart Wizard drives the 1-Click Materials workflow. You add empty shaders to your mesh and give them proper names, such as wood or leather, then select the mesh and hit the button to apply. The addon ships with more than 30 CC0 textures, and you can also add your own favorite materials to apply and browse across your models. Note that Extruded Knowledge lists a current limitation: the wizard may not assign every material to its exact matching shader, picking the first material in a category instead.
SwitchR is listed as free here in our catalog. It comes from Extruded Knowledge and is described as the smaller companion to their BatchR addon. Since licensing terms can change over time, check the developer's page for the current details before you download. Feedback is collected through the Extruded Knowledge Discord server, where the developer gathers reports to keep improving both SwitchR and BatchR.
SwitchR is described by Extruded Knowledge as a work in progress with its own limitations. Some textures may change the material node setup irreversibly, and adding or browsing through scratches and fingerprints can leave shader nodes placed messily. Pressing undo (Ctrl + Z) while in render mode after clicking through materials or other functions can force Blender to close immediately, which happens more often on hardware with low RAM or VRAM. Keeping these in mind helps when working with the addon.
SwitchR lets you toggle between a set of HDRIs and add realism details to your materials in seconds, including fuzz, scratches and fingerprints. Its 1-Click Materials feature includes more than 30 CC0 textures, and you can add your own materials to apply and browse across models. Be aware that browsing through the scratches and fingerprints options can currently leave shader nodes messily placed, which Extruded Knowledge lists as a known limitation.
