Earns its place in the superhive library for turning multi-step PBR material setup into a few clicks, with UDIM detection and ORM handling built in.
Textura - Smart Pbr Automation is a Blender addon that automates the process of setting up PBR materials. It builds on Node Wrangler's Add Principled Setup, adding ORM management, support for additional channels, and UDIM handling. Textura automatically identifies the textures to be placed on the Principled Shader.
Two workflows are available. Smart Setup lets you choose an entire folder or individual textures and customize each output through a dialog box with dedicated, intelligent previews. Fast Setup identifies and sets up textures automatically once you select a folder, aimed at standardized workflows.
Beyond initial setup, Textura offers full UDIM tile detection, intelligent Occlusion-Roughness-Metallic processing, controls for texture scale, rotation and mapping, and the ability to layer multiple PBR setups into a single material for complex blending. A green channel inverter fixes OpenGL/DirectX normal map compatibility, triplanar box projection allows texturing without UV unwrapping, and the Sticky Shader Editor opens material nodes directly from the 3D viewport. Change detection monitors texture files on disk with reload support, and keyword customization lets you adjust suffixes and ORM channel mapping.
Textura - Smart Pbr Automation is best for blender artists setting up PBR materials quickly, including workflows that use packed ORM/ARM textures and UDIM tiles.
Textura - Smart Pbr Automation is completely free to download and use.
Textura - Smart Pbr Automation works with a wide range of image formats, including PNG, JPG, TIF, EXR, PSD and TGA, among others. This means textures saved in most common formats can be set up in the Principled Shader directly. It also recognizes several standard naming conventions, from descriptive names like Wood_Floor_BaseColor to industry-standard abbreviations such as Brick_d and Brick_n, so files following those patterns are identified automatically when you point the addon at a folder.
Textura - Smart Pbr Automation includes full UDIM tile detection and management aimed at production pipelines. It recognizes UDIM sequences such as Leather_BaseColor.1001.jpg and Leather_BaseColor.1002.jpg and sets them up accordingly. Alongside UDIM handling, it detects multiple texture sets found in the same folder and lets you view and switch between them from the Overview panel, which is useful when a single folder holds several materials, such as textures downloaded together from an external library.
Textura - Smart Pbr Automation supports most standard naming conventions automatically, but when a set uses a pattern it doesn't recognize, you can switch to Smart Setup mode. In Smart Setup you choose an entire folder or individual textures and manually assign each texture type through a dialog box, with dedicated previews and full control over every output. You can also customize texture suffixes and ORM channel mapping through the preferences to better match your own naming scheme.
Textura - Smart Pbr Automation includes a green channel inverter that fixes OpenGL and DirectX normal map compatibility with a single click. Beyond that control, the addon offers triplanar box projection for texturing without UV unwrapping and shader controls for adjusting texture scale, rotation and mapping. It can also layer multiple PBR setups into a single material for complex blending, detect multiple texture sets within one folder, and monitor texture file changes on disk in real time with reload support.
Textura - Smart Pbr Automation is listed as free here. For current licensing terms and any conditions of use, check the developer's page on superhive, since availability can change over time. The addon is distributed through the superhive library, and documentation is provided to help with setup. A demo video is also available for those who want to see more before installing, and preferences are organized by tab with a clean interface for editing keywords and ORM/ARM settings.
