To Square earns its place in the Blender extensions library for the granularity it gives over squaring vertices, from method choice down to per-square locking and loop ordering.
To Square adds a square operator to Blender that you can reach from the 3D Viewport Sidebar under the Square tab, or from the Edit Mode context menu. Any selection counts as acceptable input. Three methods define how squares are built: Multi makes a square for each selected loop, Around builds squares from the vertices surrounding the selection, and Mono makes a single square from all the selected vertices of the objects in edit mode.
Options live in the Square panel, the Adjust Last Operation panel, or both. You can set each square's center from its vertices' geometric center, its bounding box center, or the 3D cursor, and pick a start corner from a vertex location, the 3D cursor, or that vertex's projection onto its loop's average plane. Offset shifts corners onto the next vertices, Scale resizes squares around their center, and Spin rotates them around their normals, diagonals, or medians. Size sets a common side length for all squares.
When several squares are created, you can edit them all at once or one by one, lock individual squares, and reorder intersecting loops. Zigzag, Reverse, Outcast, and No Mix add further control over how vertices and loops are squared.
To Square is best for blender modelers who convert vertex or loop selections into squares while keeping control over center, orientation, and size.
To Square is completely free to download and use.
To Square supports Blender 4.2 LTS and newer, so any current release in that line can run it. The add-on is at version 2.2.2 and was last updated on 2025-05-08. If you're on a build older than 4.2, you'll want to update Blender first before installing. For the latest compatibility details and any newer releases, check the developer's page before you download it.
To Square places its square operator in two spots inside Blender: the 3D Viewport Sidebar under a dedicated Square tab, and the Edit Mode context menu as a Square entry. Any selection you make is treated as acceptable input for the tool. Options for each square appear in the Square panel, the Adjust Last Operation panel, or both, depending on which setting you are changing.
To Square offers three ways to build squares from a selection. Multi makes a separate square for each selected loop. Around builds one or more squares from the vertices surrounding the selection. Mono makes a single square using all the selected vertices of the objects in edit mode. If fewer than four vertices are selected under Multi or Mono, the operator falls back to the Around method until more vertices are added.
To Square sizes each square from its own geometry by default, but you can override that. Checking the Size box lets you enter a single side length that applies to all squares at once. Separately, the Scale property resizes squares around their center, and the Spin property rotates them around their normals, diagonals, or medians. Together these give control over both the dimensions and orientation of the results.
To Square is listed as free in this catalog and is distributed under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later. That license lets you use, study, and modify the add-on within its terms. Since licensing and distribution can change over time, check the developer's page for the current terms before you download or redistribute it. The version listed here is 2.2.2.
