Earns its place in the superhive library as a Grease Pencil–based image-to-mesh tracer for Blender. Note that TraceGenius Pro and the separate TraceGenius Ultimate are different add-ons — Ultimate uses a fully custom tracing engine with features such as color picking and transparency control.
TraceGenius Pro 4.7 by Russel Studios converts 2D images into 3D meshes inside Blender. It runs on Blender's built-in Grease Pencil tracing engine and accepts JPG, PNG and Webp files, which you can drag and drop or open directly. Support for SVG files is planned for a future update.
From a loaded image, the add-on can extract outlines or faces, invert the image selection, and fine-tune output with color and brightness thresholds. Extracted shapes can be extruded and beveled, and individual parts can be separated after mesh generation, with an advanced algorithm handling clean geometry. An Auto-Material Setup step unwraps the traced object and applies a PBR material, and a Retrace function lets you adjust and update the mesh without undoing or starting over. A cursor-based progress indicator shows when a trace is running.
Version 4.7 improves the user experience and supports all Blender versions from 2.8 onward, including the latest release. Note that TraceGenius Pro is a separate add-on from TraceGenius Ultimate, which uses a fully custom tracing engine.
Tracegenius Pro 4.7 - Advanced 2D Image To 3D Mesh Tracer is best for artists and designers converting 2D images into 3D meshes in Blender who want outline or face extraction with adjustable detail.
Tracegenius Pro 4.7 - Advanced 2D Image To 3D Mesh Tracer is completely free to download and use.
TraceGenius Pro 4.7 supports all Blender versions from 2.8 onward, including the latest release and, according to the developer, future versions. Earlier builds only partially supported Blender 4.3 and newer, but version 4.0 and later restored full support across the range. Version 4.2 also fixed coplanar face selection in Blender 4.5 and newer. If you are running a recent Blender release, TraceGenius Pro 4.7 is built to work with it.
TraceGenius Pro supports JPG, PNG and Webp image files, which you can bring in by drag-and-drop or by opening them directly. SVG files are not yet supported but are planned for the next update, according to the developer. Once an image is loaded, TraceGenius Pro can extract outlines or faces, invert the selection, and let you fine-tune results with color and brightness thresholds before generating the mesh.
TraceGenius Pro and TraceGenius Ultimate are two separate add-ons, not the same product. TraceGenius Pro uses Blender's built-in Grease Pencil tracing engine, while Ultimate uses a fully custom tracing engine with features Blender's tracer cannot support, such as color picking, transparency control, and pre-trace enhancements. If you are unsure which fits your needs, the developer invites questions and is happy to explain the differences.
TraceGenius Pro is listed as free in this catalog. For current licensing terms and any options tied to the Pro or Ultimate versions, check the developer's page, since pricing and availability can change over time. TraceGenius Pro has also gathered a 5-star rating from more than fifty customers, per the developer's listing, and the developer links additional documentation and FAQ material for anyone who wants more detail before installing.
