MPFB earns its place in the Blender Extensions library as a full human character pipeline, from one-click mesh to rigging, procedural skin and eyes, and an asset library. The 2.0.16 release adds an expressions workflow and reworks the Rigify UI, and its full MakeHuman asset compatibility ties it back to the community project behind it.
MPFB is a human character generator and editor for Blender, built by the MakeHuman Community. It creates a humanoid mesh in a single click, then opens up parametric modeling of body features so you can shape the character directly in Blender.
Rigging is automatic, with a choice from several different rigs and support for Rigify. Rigs can be posed in both IK and FK modes. Skin and eyes are handled through procedural materials, and an asset library adds clothes, body parts and materials. MPFB is fully compatible with all MakeHuman assets.
Version 2.0.16 is a feature release that adds a new expressions workflow and gives the Rigify UI a major overhaul with improved UX. MPFB runs on Blender 4.2 LTS and newer and is released under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later.
MPFB is best for blender artists creating and editing humanoid characters who want parametric body modeling, automatic rigging with Rigify support, and compatibility with MakeHuman assets.
MPFB is completely free to download and use.
MPFB is compatible with Blender 4.2 LTS and newer, so any release from 4.2 onward should run it, and older builds would need updating first. The add-on is distributed for Blender's extension system, and it can be dragged and dropped into Blender or downloaded and installed from disk. The current release is version 2.0.16, at 42.9 MB. For the definitive list of supported versions and any changes between releases, check the developer's page.
MPFB is listed as free here and is released under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later, which covers how you can use, modify and redistribute it. It is developed by the MakeHuman Community, with Joel-Palmius credited as the add-on developer. For the current licensing terms and usage details, refer to the developer's page. The review field on the extension listing is meant for reviews rather than support, so technical questions and issue reports should go to the project's issue tracker on GitHub.
MPFB provides automatic rigging with a choice from several different rigs, including support for Rigify. Rigs can be used in both IK and FK modes, giving you two ways to pose the character. Rigging sits alongside the parametric body modeling and one-click mesh creation as part of the character workflow. In version 2.0.16 the Rigify UI received a major overhaul with improved UX, so the interface around that rig has changed compared to earlier releases. Full release notes are available on the developer's page.
MPFB is fully compatible with all MakeHuman assets, which fits its origin as a project from the MakeHuman Community. It also includes its own asset library with support for clothes, body parts and materials. The extension requests an optional network permission to interact with a local instance of MakeHuman, alongside file permissions to load and save data. If you rely on a specific MakeHuman asset or workflow, the developer's page and issue tracker are the best places to confirm details.
MPFB 2.0.16 is a feature release that adds a new expressions workflow and delivers a major overhaul of the Rigify UI with improved UX. Full release notes for the version are published on the developer's page. The release is compatible with Blender 4.2 LTS and newer. If you want to report a technical issue related to the update, the project's issue tracker on GitHub is the place to do it rather than the extension's review field.
