Decal Beast brings placement, styling, aging and baking together in one Blender addon aimed at the decal problems artists run into. Customers who own V1 (the Beast Version) can claim the V2 upgrade at no cost with a coupon, and a demo video is available.
Decal Beast is a Blender addon for adding graffiti and decals to 3D models. Decals drag and drop onto any mesh, including objects that carry several materials, and the same decal can drop onto multiple objects at once, controlled by a single empty. An empty cube decides where each decal sits, and you can move it manually or use the slide empty option to slide it along the surface.
Color and roughness are adjustable in the UI, currently supporting two colors, and Batch Styling applies grunge, aging and roughness values across selected decals in one step. Apply to Linked pushes those changes to the other materials on an object. A layer-based, non-destructive workflow lets you reorder decal layers like Photoshop, and grunge and aging effects can be animated for timelapse scenes.
You can type your own words into graffiti using more than 25 fonts, with adjustable word, line and letter spacing plus multiline text, and a library of 250+ hand scribbles is included. One-click baking transfers decals onto the mesh to free up GPU memory. A demo video is available.
Updated V1.3 - Decal Beast - All In One Decal Addon is best for blender artists working on urban scenes, game assets, architectural visualization and character customization who need graffiti and decals on their models.
Updated V1.3 - Decal Beast - All In One Decal Addon is completely free to download and use.
Decal Beast supports meshes that carry different materials, so you can drag and drop a decal across an object even when it has several material slots. It also places the same decal onto multiple objects at once, with a single empty controlling all of them. When you change grunge or color on an empty that spans multiple materials, the change first affects one material; clicking Apply to Linked with the empty selected propagates those values to the rest of the materials.
Decal Beast lets you type your own words and turn them into graffiti using more than 25 graffiti fonts, so you can build custom lettering without relying on external software. You can adjust word, line and letter spacing, including overlapping letters for a hand-painted look, and the addon now supports multiline text. As with standard decals, the color of text graffiti can be changed directly in the UI, and the developer notes more fonts are planned for future updates.
Decal Beast includes one-click baking that transfers decals onto your mesh, which frees up GPU memory that stacked shader nodes would otherwise consume. Alongside baking, the addon uses a layer-based, non-destructive workflow similar to Photoshop, letting you move decal layers up or down by selecting the empty tied to each decal. You can also slide a decal along a surface after placement using the slide empty option, so positioning stays adjustable before you commit to a bake.
Decal Beast is listed as free in this catalog, so check the developer's page for current licensing and any coupon details. The developer notes that customers who own V1, the Beast Version, can claim the V2 upgrade at no cost using a coupon code at checkout. For the most accurate and up-to-date terms, including which version you receive and any active discounts, refer to the developer's page before downloading.
