UVO earns a place in the Blender extensions library for concentrating several UV inspection overlays — ID, Intersect, Padding, and Stretch — into a single panel in the UV Editor.

What is UVO?

UVO adds a suite of dynamic overlays to Blender's UV Editor. Its ID Overlay color-codes UVs so you can see how they are organized, with Object and Island modes that assign a distinct color per object or per topologically connected UV island. The Intersect Overlay highlights overlapping and stacked islands in real-time, detecting overlaps within a single object and across all objects in Edit Mode at once.

Intersect detection offers a Tiled mode, which folds all UV tiles into (0,1) before detection to find overlaps between islands in different tiles that share the same texel space, and a UDIM mode that treats each tile independently. Intersecting islands are shown with hatching, perfectly stacked islands with cross-hatching, and overlapping areas with red fill. The Padding Overlay visualizes the padding zone around each island and flags potential mipmap bleed.

The Stretch Overlay visualizes texel density deviation from a target value using a warped checker grid and a color heatmap. Additional features include per-object texture resolution and texel density settings, an eyedropper tool to sample density from selected UV islands, and correct visualization for non-square textures.

How do I install UVO in Blender?
