Earns its place in the superhive library as a focused add-on that keeps common vertex group operations, from assignment to cleanup, under one shortcut and a configurable pie menu.
Vertex Groups Pie Menu from Wilphi Design adds a pie menu to Blender for assigning and removing vertices to and from vertex groups. It opens with a default shortcut of shift+ctrl+G, which you can reassign in the add-on preferences.
The main operator handles adding, removing, selecting and deselecting vertex groups. Groups can be named automatically when created from the pie menu, and that auto-naming can be switched off in the preferences. From the same menu you can set vertex weight, view the active vertex group and change its name, separate an object by its vertex groups, and remove empty groups that have no vertices assigned.
The add-on covers Blender 3.0 through 5.0 and is marked Blender Extension compatible, with the 2.2 update adding Blender 5.0 support and 2.1 adding Blender 4.3. It ships under the GPL license and comes with documentation.
Vertex Groups Pie Menu is best for blender users who work regularly with vertex groups and want assigning, weighting, and organizing them behind a single pie-menu shortcut.
Vertex Groups Pie Menu is completely free to download and use.
Vertex Groups Pie Menu supports Blender versions 3.0 through 5.0, with the 2.2 update adding Blender 5.0 support and 2.1 adding Blender 4.3. It is marked as Blender Extension compatible and installs as an add-on under the GPL license. If you run a version within that range, the pie menu and its operators should be available once the add-on is enabled. For versions outside 3.0 to 5.0, check the developer's page to confirm current support before installing.
Vertex Groups Pie Menu opens with a default shortcut of shift+ctrl+G, and you can change that shortcut in the add-on preferences. Once the add-on is enabled, pressing the shortcut brings up the pie menu, giving access to the main operator for adding, removing, selecting and deselecting vertex groups, along with the weighting and naming controls. The same preferences panel also lets you disable the automatic group-naming feature.
Vertex Groups Pie Menu names groups automatically when you create them from the pie menu, but this behaviour is optional. You can disable the auto-naming feature in the add-on preferences, in the same place where you can reassign the default shift+ctrl+G shortcut. When enabled, auto-naming applies as groups are created directly from the menu, so you can leave it on or switch it off if you prefer to name groups manually.
Vertex Groups Pie Menu is listed as free in this catalog, so you can add it without a purchase here. The add-on is distributed under the GPL license and comes with documentation. Licensing terms can change over time, so for the most current details on commercial and non-commercial use it is best to check the developer's page directly before relying on any specific terms.
