Vmdesk-Free covers the Settings Editor and Modifier Editor; the Mesh Editor and Data-Block Preview belong to the Standard Version.
Vmdesk-Free is an add-on for Blender that brings a virtual editor environment into the 3D Viewport. It supports interactive multi-purpose processing and lets you carry out workflows without leaving the viewport. The free edition includes a Settings Editor and a Modifier Editor, giving you a place to handle configuration and modifier work directly.
In the Modifier Editor you can move single or multiple modifiers, and the interface offers customization options including UI color and size. A companion Standard Version adds a Mesh Editor and Data-Block Preview beyond what the free build covers, so you can move up if you need those tools.
Documentation is available through a User Guide, and the add-on can be obtained via a GitHub download link. A demo video is also available. Vmdesk-Free is released under the GPL license and targets Blender versions 4.0, 4.1 and 4.2.
Vmdesk-Free is best for blender users who want a virtual editor environment and multitasking workflows within the 3D Viewport.
Vmdesk-Free is completely free to download and use.
Vmdesk-Free is built for the Blender 4.0, 4.1 and 4.2 series, providing its virtual editor environment across those releases. The listing records Blender version support for 4.0 and 4.1, and the environment is described for 4.0, 4.1 and 4.2. If you are on one of these versions you should be able to run the add-on; for any version outside this range, check the developer's page and User Guide before installing.
Vmdesk-Free is available through a GitHub download link, so you can obtain the add-on files from there. A User Guide is provided as documentation to walk through setup and use, and a demo video is also available. For the exact installation steps and any current instructions, refer to the developer's page and the accompanying User Guide rather than relying on assumptions about the process.
Vmdesk-Free includes the Settings Editor and the Modifier Editor, both of which are also part of the Standard Version. The Standard Version additionally offers a Mesh Editor and Data-Block Preview, which are not part of the free build. If you need mesh editing and data-block preview capabilities, the Standard Version covers those tools; otherwise the free edition provides the settings and modifier features described here.
Vmdesk-Free is listed here as free and is released under the GPL license. The add-on covers the Settings Editor and Modifier Editor features described on this card. Licensing terms and any options for the Standard Version can change, so check the developer's page for the current details before you rely on a particular arrangement for your projects. The GPL license governs the free edition as listed.
