Part of the superhive library, this add-on earns its place by targeting one specific gap — the removal of Blender's one-click bloom toggle from 4.2 onward — and restoring that behaviour for both Eevee and Cycles. The December 2025 rewrite keeps it current with Blender 5.
From Blender 4.2 onward, bloom is no longer a one-click toggle. Add Bloom Back solves this for Blender users by enabling bloom again with a single click, working with both the Eevee and Cycles render engines. The add-on adds a glare node set to bloom to recreate the effect.
The add-on checks for a glare node first, and its parameters change the settings in the compositor. A Render View button turns the effect on automatically, so the workflow stays close to the one-click behaviour bloom had before version 4.2.
Version 1.5 is a rewrite for Blender 5, released December 6th, 2025, and it was a free update for existing users. The add-on supports Blender 4.2 through 4.5 alongside Blender 5, is marked Blender extension compatible, and is released under the GPL license.
Add Bloom Back [Blender 5 Update] is best for blender users on Eevee or Cycles who want to bring back one-click bloom after it was removed from Blender's interface in version 4.2.
Add Bloom Back [Blender 5 Update] is completely free to download and use.
Add Bloom Back was rewritten for Blender 5 in version 1.5, released December 6th, 2025, and the update is free for existing users. Beyond Blender 5, the add-on covers Blender versions 4.2 through 4.5, so it works across the releases where the single-click bloom toggle was removed. It's listed as Blender extension compatible and is provided as an add-on. If you're on one of these versions and missing the old bloom control, this brings that one-click behaviour back for your scenes.
Add Bloom Back enables bloom for both Eevee and Cycles with a single click. Whichever of these two render engines you're using, the add-on applies the effect the same way, so there's no need to set it up separately per engine. The Render View button turns the effect on automatically. Both engines are listed among the render engines the add-on works with, making it usable whether your project renders in Eevee or Cycles.

Add Bloom Back is listed as free in this catalog. Licensing and pricing can change over time, so check Canopy Games' developer page for the current terms before you download. The add-on is released under the GPL license and is marked as Blender extension compatible. For existing users, the December 2025 rewrite for Blender 5 was provided as a free update, so there was no additional charge to move to the latest version.
