A fork of François Daubine's Align2Custom, extended by 1P2D with roll control, smart alignment and a dedicated edge-align mode. It earns its place in the blender_extensions library for the range of viewport-alignment methods packed into a keyboard-driven workflow.
Advanced Align View is a Blender add-on by 1P2D for aligning the 3D viewport to a reference point, aimed at precision modeling on complex geometry, CAD imports, and non-world-aligned objects. It's a fork of François Daubine's Align2Custom, extended by 1P2D with features built up around a personal modeling workflow before this release.
The add-on offers several align modes: Custom (legacy), 3D Cursor, Selection, and Advanced Edge Align. Selection aligns the view to the active object's orientation, or to selected geometry in Edit Mode. Advanced Edge Align works in Edit Mode with one edge selected, aligning the view so the edge sits parallel to the screen border with three degrees of freedom. Smart Align detects the closest matching angle when you roughly point the view in a direction, and Minimize Viewport Roll preserves the viewport's up orientation when aligning to a canonical viewpoint.
Pie menus and keyboard shortcuts drive the workflow, with navigation operators for incremental rotations around the aligned object. Optional settings can set the Transform Orientation to "View" and align newly added objects to the current view. It's stated as ideal for hard surface, industrial and automotive modelers.

Advanced Align View is compatible with Blender 4.2 LTS and newer, so any current LTS or later release should run it. It's a compact add-on at around 37 KB and requires no special permissions in Blender. The developer lists version 0.1.3 as the latest build, published in May 2026, with minor UI changes in the most recent update. If you run an older Blender release below 4.2, it falls outside the stated compatibility range, so check the developer's extension page on extensions.blender.org before installing.
Advanced Align View installs by drag and drop into Blender, the standard method for Blender extensions. Drop the downloaded file into the Blender window and enable it, and the add-on's align modes, pie menus and navigation operators become available in the 3D viewport. It requires no special permissions. Once enabled, you can open the pie menus with CTRL+ALT+Q and toggle Align View with SHIFT+CTRL+ALT+Q. Advanced Align View is built around keyboard shortcuts to keep hands on the work. The pie menus open with CTRL+ALT+Q, and Toggle Align View is SHIFT+CTRL+ALT+Q. Edge Roll triggers on a double CTRL, and within an aligned view you rotate with ALT+MMB drag or recenter with a double ALT axis snap. In Selection Mode with one edge selected in Edit Mode, ALT+clicking the axis runs Advanced Edge Align. The add-on also ships with many settings you can tailor to your needs, so both shortcut-driven and menu-driven workflows are covered.
Advanced Align View is released under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later, an open-source license. It's listed as free here in the catalog, and the add-on is a fork of François Daubine's Align2Custom, which 1P2D extended with additional features before release. Because licensing terms can change, confirm the current license and any usage conditions on the developer's extension page. Issues can be reported through the developer's Discord, and the version history is available on the same extension page for tracking changes across releases.
