AltView earns its place in the blender_extensions library for a focused job: one-hotkey switching across 200 predefined views with a built-in rotation lock. Its two-press cycle snaps to the nearest orthographic view, then returns to perspective, keeping the tool small and specific.
AltView is a Blender add-on that switches between predefined views and locks or unlocks viewport rotation from a single hotkey. It covers 200 predefined views, including standard front, top and left angles alongside diagonal angles, and is aimed at users of 3DConnexion devices.
The add-on works in two presses. The first press switches the camera to the nearest predefined orthographic view, enables orthographic mode, and locks rotation to prevent accidental perspective changes. The second press unlocks rotation and restores perspective mode.
