FakeBones is a Blender add-on aimed at armatures imported from other software such as Maya and Unreal. It generates spherical empty objects to represent joints and conical empty objects for bone connections, and it uses Stretch To constraints to produce dynamic stretching effects.
The generated empties are organized into a FakeBones collection, set as non-selectable and always displayed in front. This keeps them from interfering with the original armature data while making animation editing more intuitive. Joint sizes scale dynamically in proportion to bone lengths, and the tool's controls sit under Properties > Data Panel > FakeBones.
Version 1.0.7 optimized the runtime logic for creating multiple fake skeletons in the same scene and added support for individually deleting and resizing the fake bones for each bone. FakeBones is compatible with Blender 4.2 LTS and newer and is released under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later.
