Filter_Channels earns its place in the Blender extensions library by bringing channel filtering to the Graph Editor, a piece of functionality its developer set out to add after not finding it in Blender.
Filter_Channels is a Blender add-on that adds channel filtering to the Graph Editor for animation work. It filters X, Y, Z on Translations, Euler and Quaternion rotations, and Scales, covering both Actions and the newer Slot actions introduced in Blender 4.4. Quaternion rotation filtering comes non-active by default and is switched on from the add-on preferences.
Instead of relying on default keymaps, the add-on provides buttons to hide and unhide curves, aimed at users who aren't familiar with Blender keymaps. Selection uses Shift+LMB to add multiple channels and Ctrl+LMB to subtract from the selection. The add-on requires no special permissions and is released under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later.
The developer built it to cover functionality they couldn't find in Blender. Version 1.0.8 fixed some errors that occurred when Reset and Unselect channels were called with no channel present. It is compatible with Blender 4.2 LTS and newer.
Filter_Channels is best for animators working in the Blender Graph Editor who want to filter transform channels.
Filter_Channels is completely free to download and use.
Filter_Channels lists compatibility with Blender 4.2 LTS and newer. Its handling of both Actions and the newer Slot actions is tied to Blender 4.4 and above, so that part of the workflow depends on running a recent enough version. The add-on requires no special permissions to install. For the current version and any notes on older releases, the developer's page on GitHub is the place to check before installing.
Filter_Channels can filter X, Y, Z channels for Quaternion rotations, but that option comes non-active by default. To use it, open the add-on preferences and activate Quaternion rotation filtering there. Alongside Quaternion, the add-on also filters Euler rotations, Translations and Scales, so once enabled you have channel filtering across all transform types in the Graph Editor. The developer's page on GitHub has more setup detail.
Filter_Channels can be added by dragging and dropping the add-on into Blender, or by downloading it and installing from disk. On Blender 4.2 or above it is available through the Extensions system. For Blender 4.1 or lower, install it through Edit, Preferences, Install by locating the downloaded file, then enable it in the add-ons list to show the tab in the Graph Editor. The developer's GitHub page carries the full installation notes.
Filter_Channels is listed as free here and is released under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later. It requires no special permissions when installed, according to its listing. For the current license terms and the latest version, it's best to check the developer's page on GitHub. Version 1.0.8 fixed some errors that occurred when Reset and Unselect channels were called but no channel was present.
