A compact add-on (1.7 KB) that keeps its scope narrow: changing grease pencil frame exposure with the D and F keys. Its 0.1.1 update tagged the shortcuts with "nudge" so they surface in the Keymap section of Preferences.
Grease Pencil Nudge Frames changes the length (exposure) of grease pencil frames from the Grease Pencil Dopesheet in Blender. With the mouse over the dopesheet, press D to shorten the current frame by one frame and F to extend it by one frame. Holding the key down applies less subtle adjustments.
The shortcuts change the length of the displayed frame(s) for every unlocked layer in all selected grease pencil objects, so isolating the layer you want to affect or locking the others keeps the rest in place. When the current keyframe in any unlocked layer, even a hidden one, sits only one frame away from the next, shortening is disabled to prevent overwriting frames by accident.
The shortcuts can be remapped to any key through Preferences > Keymap by searching for "nudge". The add-on is compatible with Blender 4.3.1 and newer and requires no special permissions.
Grease Pencil Nudge Frames is best for adjusting the exposure of grease pencil frames directly in the Grease Pencil Dopesheet.
Grease Pencil Nudge Frames is completely free to download and use.
Grease Pencil Nudge Frames lists compatibility with Blender 4.3.1 and newer, so it runs on that release and later versions. The add-on requires no special permissions. You can add it by dragging and dropping the extension into Blender, or by downloading it and installing from disk. Once installed, hover the mouse over the Grease Pencil Dopesheet and press D or F to change frame length.
Grease Pencil Nudge Frames uses D to shorten the current frame by one and F to extend it by one when the mouse is over the Grease Pencil Dopesheet. To use different keys, open Preferences > Keymap and search for "nudge"; the shortcuts are tagged with that word so they show up there for remapping. Holding a key down applies less subtle adjustments rather than moving one frame at a time.
Grease Pencil Nudge Frames disables shortening when the current keyframe in any unlocked layer, even a hidden one, is only one frame away from the next keyframe. This guards against overwriting frames by accident. Because the shortcuts act on every unlocked layer across all selected grease pencil objects, isolating the layer you want to change or locking the ones you want to keep in place gives you control over what the D and F keys affect.
Grease Pencil Nudge Frames is listed as free here and is distributed under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later. It requires no special permissions to run. For the current licensing terms, and to report issues, check the developer's page. You can install it by dragging the extension into Blender or downloading it and installing from disk. The extension has a small footprint at around 1.7 KB.
