Earns its place in the Blender extensions library for a narrow, useful job: bringing IKEA's own 3D models into Blender. The developer describes it as an early proof-of-concept and notes that IKEA holds the copyright to the models.
IKEA Browser, developed by Shish, lets you browse IKEA's furniture catalog from inside Blender and import the 3D models used on ikea.com with a single click. It runs on Blender 4.2 LTS and newer, and ranks among the popular entries in the Blender extensions library.
Before browsing, you set a country code (such as 'ie' for Ireland or 'fr' for France) and a language code (such as 'en' for English) in the add-on preferences. The current region and language are then shown in the IKEA Browser panel. The add-on stores downloaded models on your machine and connects over the network to ikea.com to fetch them.
Not all products on ikea.com include a 3D model; the way to find out is to click import and see whether the model loads or returns a 404. IKEA retains the copyright for these models. Version 0.4.0 addresses a case where a network error could cause the call to the IKEA API to hang Blender.
IKEA Browser is best for blender users who want to import IKEA furniture models from ikea.com into their scenes.

IKEA Browser is compatible with Blender 4.2 LTS and newer. The developer notes that Blender 4.2.0 uses Python 3.11 specifically, which mainly matters if you want to build the add-on from source. For standard use you install the released extension and run it inside a supported Blender version. The current version listed is 0.4.0, published in August 2024, so keeping to Blender 4.2 or later is the safe path.
IKEA Browser can be installed by dragging and dropping the extension into Blender, or by downloading the .zip and using Edit > Preferences > Add-ons > Install from Disk to select the file. After installation, expand the add-on settings in preferences to configure it. The extension requests permission to store downloaded models on your files and to download content over the network from ikea.com, both of which it uses to fetch models.
IKEA Browser reads a country code and a language code that you set in the add-on preferences after installation. For example, use 'ie' for Ireland or 'fr' for France as the country code, and 'en' for English or 'fr' for French as the language code. The current region and language are then displayed in the IKEA Browser panel so you can confirm your current selection before browsing the catalog.
IKEA Browser can only import products that have a 3D model on ikea.com, and not every product does. Currently the way to find out is to click the import button and see whether the model loads or whether you get a 404. Version 0.4.0 also addressed a case where a network error could cause the call to the IKEA API to hang Blender, so an update helps if you hit connection problems.
IKEA Browser imports models that IKEA still owns the copyright to, so the developer suggests you probably don't want to use them commercially. The add-on itself is listed here as free and released under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later; check the developer's GitHub page for current details.
