Why we like it

MustardUI earns its place in the blender_extensions library for putting outfit, hair and morph controls behind a code-free panel, sitting at rank 69. Version 2026.6.2 fixes mask activation and a broken Creator tools UI.

What is MustardUI?

MustardUI is a Blender extension that gives human character models an intuitive, easy-to-use interface. The whole UI is built from a panel inside Blender, so no Python is needed. The one requirement is an armature, either a simple armature or a more complex Rigify, MHX or ARP rig, and you get going by clicking on any armature in the scene.

From the panel you can manage outfits, mixing parts from different outfits with automatic mask and armature-layer switching on the body and hair. Hair made from mesh, particles or curves can be enabled or disabled along with its modifiers, and any Blender property can be added to the panels with a right-click. Morphs are supported on any model, with dedicated support for Diffeomorphic Daz models. Automatic optimization toggles and mutes modifiers, shape keys, drivers and collections to keep the viewport fast, Custom Simplify disables slow settings in one click, and Creator tools add physics and optimize the model in a few clicks.

MustardUI works with Blender 4.2 LTS and newer and is released under the GPL v3.0 or later. Video tutorials are available on YouTube, some marked NSFW.

Frequently asked questions

Does MustardUI work with Blender 4.2?

MustardUI is compatible with Blender 4.2 LTS and newer, so it runs on current long-term-support releases and later builds. It installs as a Blender extension: you can drag and drop it into Blender or install it from disk. The current version, 2026.6.2, ships fixes for mask activation and a Creator tools UI issue. Once installed, click on any armature to begin. If the model already has a MustardUI you can start tweaking it right away, otherwise a configuration mode appears for building your own interface.

Does MustardUI need an armature to work?

MustardUI needs one thing to get started: an armature. That can be a simple armature or a more complex Rigify, MHX or ARP rig, and from it you build your UI. To begin, click on any armature in your scene. If the model already carries a MustardUI you can use the interface to adjust it immediately; if not, a configuration mode lets you set one up. Building the UI happens entirely from a panel inside Blender, with no Python involved.

Do I need to know Python to build a UI with MustardUI?

MustardUI requires no Python to create an interface. You build the whole UI from a panel inside Blender, adding any Blender property to the UI panels with a right-click. From there it supports outfits, mixing parts from different outfits with automatic mask and armature-layer switching on the body and hair, plus hair from mesh, particles or curves with its modifiers, and morphs. Creator tools let you add physics and optimize the model in a few clicks, so setup stays within Blender's own interface.

Does MustardUI support Daz models?

MustardUI includes morphs support for any model, with dedicated support for Diffeomorphic Daz models. You can add morphs to a model and drive them through the UI panels alongside outfit, hair and armature controls. For creators working with imported Daz characters, that dedicated Diffeomorphic path is called out specifically. Video tutorials covering setup are available on YouTube, though note that some of them are marked NSFW.

Is MustardUI free to use?

MustardUI is listed as free in this catalog and is released under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later. For current licensing terms, source code and the Developer Guide, check the developer's page on GitHub. The extension also requests one permission: file access to import and export templates from and to disk. Before installing, you can review the version history and permissions on the developer's page to confirm the details for your setup.
