NFC Card and Keychain Generator earns its place in the Blender extensions library by turning a practical problem — bare NFC chips and paper QR codes — into a customizable 3D print. Its mix of SVG import, a built-in QR generator, and optional magnet and NFC cutouts covers a range of tag and keychain designs from one panel.
NFC Card and Keychain Generator is a Blender add-on for designing 3D-printable housings for NFC chips. NFC chips and QR codes can share socials or a contact card, let guests tap to join Wi-Fi, or trigger automations with a scan, but on their own they don't look great. This add-on wraps them in a printable card, dot, or keychain, and can place a QR backup code or your own logos on the surface.
Shapes are adjustable, with control over height, bevels, rounded corners, and optional magnet slots that use hexagonal or circular cutouts. Import any SVG logo to turn it into an object on the housing, with an inset option for flush multi-color prints, or use the built-in QR generator for links, vCards, Wi-Fi details, or plain text. The NFC cutout is optional, so solid cards and keychains without cavities are possible.
Work happens in the NFC Cards tab of the N-panel: press N in the 3D Viewport, click Prep Scene, set dimensions and cutouts, add a logo or QR code, then export as an STL. It requires Blender 4.2.0 or later and is released under the GPL v3.

NFC Card and Keychain Generator requires Blender 4.2.0 or later, and its listing marks it compatible with Blender 4.5 LTS and newer. Once you have a supported build, you can enable the add-on and open the NFC Cards tab from the N-panel in the 3D Viewport. If you run an older Blender version, update before installing so the extension loads and its panel appears correctly. Version 1.2.3 is the current release, published in late September 2025.
NFC Card and Keychain Generator installs like a standard Blender extension. Download the nfcCardGen.zip file, then drag and drop it into Blender and enable the extension. Alternatively, go to Edit > Preferences > Add-ons > Install from Disk, select the zip, and enable it there. After enabling, press N in the 3D Viewport to reveal the sidebar, open the NFC Cards tab, and click Prep Scene to generate the base card and clear any interfering objects.
NFC Card and Keychain Generator exports your customized housing as an STL file, ready for printing. You choose the shape, dimensions, and optional NFC or magnet cutouts, then import an SVG logo or generate a QR code before exporting. As of version 1.2.3, the 3mf export option was removed per Blender's policy, so if you want a 3mf object you now export it manually through Blender. STL remains the built-in export path for sending your design to a slicer.
NFC Card and Keychain Generator lets you disable the NFC cutout, so you can create solid cards or keychains without cavities. The same tool also handles magnet slots, offering hexagonal or circular cutouts with adjustable width and height, and it can auto-adjust the housing height to fit them. Whether you include an NFC chip, a magnet, both, or neither, you set the shape, bevels, rounded corners, and dimensions before exporting your housing as an STL.
NFC Card and Keychain Generator is listed as free here and released under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later. That license lets you use, study, and modify the add-on within its terms.
