Render Subcollections
by Nico-Peters
Render Subcollections is a Blender add-on that automatically renders subcollections one by one. For each subcollection it activates the collection, renders the camera or cameras inside, then deactivates it again.

Earns its place in the Superhive library for bundling a physically-based atmosphere shader, procedural planet and NASA-photo-based environment generator into one Blender collection.
ᑕ O S M O is a set of blend files for Blender built around creating space scenes. The main 'C O S M O' file contains a customized space scene with a planet, atmosphere, a physically correct sun and clouds. Two additional files, 'PROCEDURAL PLANET' and 'SPACE ENVIRONMENT GENERATOR', extend the collection with a noise-texture-based planet offering customization and infinite resolution, and a procedural generator for building entire universes for renders.
The atmosphere shader uses volumetric clouds that cast shadows into the atmosphere and absorb light based on the anisotropic scalar formula, with real physical formulas used to calculate ray scattering and colors. Its volume processing, based on mathematical and vector nodes, reduces rendering time by up to 568 times compared to a standard volume shader while producing almost no noise. The surface shader uses micro-displacement, a procedural emission map that generates cities from continent information, physically correct oceans, and procedural noise techniques that increase texture detail from low-resolution textures.
The procedural planet generates rivers, seas, coasts, mountain ranges and underwater reefs alongside oceans and continents. The space environment generator, created from real NASA photos, includes several types of stars and nebulae. ᑕ O S M O has an intuitive interface so that even beginner users can figure it out.
ᑕ O S M O is best for blender artists building space scenes, planets, atmospheres and cosmic backgrounds.
ᑕ O S M O is completely free to download and use.
ᑕ O S M O is a collection of blend files. The main 'C O S M O' file holds a customized space scene with a planet, atmosphere, a physically correct sun and clouds. Two additional files, 'PROCEDURAL PLANET' and 'SPACE ENVIRONMENT GENERATOR', are included. The procedural planet is based on noise textures with infinite resolution, and the environment generator is based on procedural textures for building entire universes in your renders. Documentation is also provided to help you work through the files.
ᑕ O S M O's atmosphere shader uses advanced volume processing techniques based on mathematical and vector nodes, which reduces rendering time by up to 568 times compared to a standard volume shader. It also produces almost no noise, achieved through optimization of ray tracing. The clouds are volumetric, casting shadows into the atmosphere and absorbing light based on the anisotropic scalar formula, while real physical formulas handle ray scattering and color calculation for photorealistic orbital shots.
ᑕ O S M O includes a procedural planet based on noise textures, allowing customization and infinite resolution. It generates detailed landscapes including rivers, seas, coasts, mountain ranges and underwater reefs in addition to oceans and continents. Its color map uses advanced procedural textures that recreate azure shallow water, coastal dunes, forests, rocky mountains and canyons. The planet can be changed as you want, giving unlimited customization options if you want to build your own planet.
ᑕ O S M O is listed as free in this catalog. Licensing terms can change over time, so for current pricing and license details it's best to check the developer's page directly on Blender Station. The collection includes the main file plus the procedural planet and space environment generator files, along with documentation to help you get started with the space scene tools.
