RollLux earns its place in the Blender extensions library for pairing reference analysis with a fully offline, dependency-free rig builder that works across both Cycles and Eevee.
RollLux is a Blender 5.0+ extension that reads a reference photo and generates a ready-to-tune light rig, so you can approach cinematic, portrait, product, and stylized looks without hand-placing every light. Reference analysis extracts key, fill, and ambient colors along with contrast, mood, and color temperature, while LuxPro derives a portrait-tuned light direction with a confidence value. The rig can run from 1 to 8 lights, matched to a hue-diverse k-means palette, and every strategy thumbnail and library reference is procedurally generated in code from shaded spheres, gradient maps, and light blobs rather than stock photos.
After dropping in a reference and generating, you refine with live sliders for intensity, exposure, distance, rotation, saturation, shadows, highlights, and contrast. Auto Exposure samples the viewport in Rendered mode with TRIM, LOG, and P60 metering, EV bias, and a LIGHT_RIG bake. A compact Quick panel and a full Pro panel with advanced AE, rig, and per-light controls cover different levels of detail.
RollLux runs fully offline with no pip installs, using Blender's bundled NumPy. The interface is available in English, Chinese, and Japanese.
RollLux is best for blender artists lighting portrait, product, cinematic, and stylized scenes who want a reference-driven light rig they can refine with live sliders.

RollLux is a Blender 5.0+ extension and lists compatibility with Blender 5.0 and newer. It works with both the Cycles and Eevee render engines. Auto Exposure relies on viewport sampling in Rendered shading mode, so you switch the 3D View to Rendered to use that metering. The basic workflow runs from the 3D Viewport N-panel under the RollLux tab, where you load a reference, pick a strategy, select your subject, and generate lighting.
RollLux runs fully offline with zero pip installs. It uses Blender's bundled NumPy and lists no additional dependencies, so nothing needs to be downloaded or configured beyond the add-on itself. The extension requests one permission: file access to load reference lighting images from disk via the file picker. You can also paste a reference image directly from the system clipboard, and a procedurally generated default reference is applied the first time you open the panel.
RollLux generates every strategy thumbnail and library reference procedurally in code, using shaded spheres, gradient maps, and light blobs rather than hand-picked stock photos. You can tap Random for a freshly generated style, or step through named starting points that share the same generative pipeline. The distribution library is likewise synthesized from gradients, blobs, rim, and vignette elements. Version 5.5.5 added Balanced, Soft, and Vibrant lighting distribution map modes along with a distinct color extraction method.
