Why we like it

Earns a spot in the Blender extensions library by bundling trimsheet layout, texel density and ID map baking into a single UV Editor sidebar panel.

What is PropGon UV Trim?

PropGon UV Trim is a UV trimsheet toolset for Blender, built for game artists and environment artists. Its Trim Layout tool defines divisions and fits UV islands automatically into trimsheet slots, while Scan to Trim reads existing UVs to auto-generate divisions and a layout. A Trim List saves and reuses named trim regions with custom colors, and Atlas Presets store and restore full UV island configurations per asset.

Beyond layout, the add-on covers texel density work, letting you get, set and evaluate density per island, plus UV Transform to store and recall UV position, scale and rotation. Basic UV tools handle orient to geometry, cut and weld seams, unfold, quadrify, flip and align. ID Map Baking bakes trim color ID maps directly from the division setup, and a real-time trim overlay is drawn in the UV Editor. The tools live under UV Editor → Sidebar → PG UVTrim.

Version 2.1.3 requires Blender 4.2 LTS or newer and is released under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later. The extension requests file access to save and load trimsheet presets and ID maps to disk.

Frequently asked questions

Does PropGon UV Trim run on Blender 4.2?

PropGon UV Trim lists compatibility with Blender 4.2 LTS and newer, so 4.2 is the minimum supported release. The add-on's tools appear in the UV Editor sidebar under a PG UVTrim tab, covering trim layout, texel density, UV transforms and baking. If you run an older Blender build, you would need to update before installing. Version 2.1.3 is the release noted here, published March 11th, 2026.

Where does PropGon UV Trim appear in Blender's interface?

PropGon UV Trim adds its tools to the UV Editor, reached through UV Editor → Sidebar → PG UVTrim. From that panel you can define trim divisions, fit UV islands into slots, manage a trim list with custom colors, set texel density and toggle a real-time trim overlay. Atlas presets and UV transform storage are handled from the same sidebar location rather than a separate window, keeping the trimsheet workflow in one place.

What disk access does PropGon UV Trim request?

PropGon UV Trim requests a Files permission so it can save and load trimsheet presets and ID maps to disk. That covers the Atlas Presets feature, which stores and restores full UV island configurations per asset, along with the Trim List of named regions carrying custom colors. ID Map Baking, which bakes trim color ID maps from the division setup, also writes output. Granting that access lets the save-and-reuse features store data on disk.

Is PropGon UV Trim free to use?

PropGon UV Trim is listed as free in this catalog and is distributed under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later, which covers use and redistribution under GPL terms. For the most current licensing details, check the developer's page. The add-on is a small download of 42.5 KB and, at version 2.1.3, targets Blender 4.2 LTS and newer, so it should sit comfortably alongside a current Blender install.

Can PropGon UV Trim bake ID maps?

PropGon UV Trim includes ID Map Baking, which bakes trim color ID maps directly from the division setup. The color side ties into the Trim List, where named trim regions carry custom colors, and the Trim Layout feature that defines divisions and fits UV islands into trimsheet slots. Alongside baking, the add-on offers texel density controls per island and a real-time trim overlay drawn in the UV Editor for checking the layout.
