Why we like it

Quick Lattice earns its place in the Superhive library for automating lattice setup, letting artists focus on the deformation rather than the configuration steps.

What is Quick Lattice?

Quick Lattice handles the setup of a lattice cage around an object in Blender, automating a process that otherwise takes multiple clicks. It sets the size, position, rotation, resolution, interpolation, and modifier for you, letting you modify your models non-destructively.

To use it, select the target object and open the context menu with a right click (or "w" for RCS users), then choose "Quick Lattice" and pick the behavior. The behavior can be changed later in the last operation panel or in the lattice properties. Add-on preferences let you enable or disable the popup on lattice creation and choose default values for interpolation and resolution.

Version 0.8 added a range of new preferences: default behavior selection, the ability to deactivate the context menu button and to skip entering edit mode after creation, custom naming for the lattice object and modifier, and an object name prefix. A panel was also added as an alternative to the context menu. Note that when an object's pivot is rotated but not the whole object, applying the rotation first (Ctrl + A) may be needed for the expected result.

Who is Quick Lattice best for?

Quick Lattice is best for blender artists who want a non-destructive way to modify models without manually setting up lattices.

How much does Quick Lattice cost?

Quick Lattice is completely free to download and use.

Frequently asked questions

What Blender versions does Quick Lattice support?

Quick Lattice is compatible with Blender versions 3.6 through 4.4 and is listed as a Blender Extension. It is distributed as an add-on under the GPL license. If you are running a version within that supported range, the add-on should install and activate through Blender's preferences without issue. For the most current compatibility information, check the developer's page before downloading, since supported versions can change over time.

How do I install Quick Lattice in Blender?

Quick Lattice installs from a downloaded zip file named quick_lattice_[version].zip. In Blender, go to User Preferences, then Addons, choose Install, select the downloaded zip file, and activate the add-on. If you have an older version installed, remove it first. When updating from version 0.7 to 0.8, you must remove the previous version, restart Blender, and only then install 0.8, otherwise the new preferences will not load.

How do I access Quick Lattice once it's installed?

Quick Lattice is used by selecting the target object and pressing Right Click, or "w" for RCS users, to open the context menu, then choosing "Quick Lattice". You then choose the behavior, which can be changed later in the last operation panel or in the lattice properties. A panel is also available as an alternative to the context menu if you prefer working that way.

Is Quick Lattice free?

Quick Lattice is listed as free in this catalog. Licensing terms are covered by the GPL license under which the add-on is distributed. For current licensing details and any pricing that may apply on the developer's own store, visit the developer's page directly before downloading. The add-on is created by carlosmu, who is a Blender Development Fund contributor, and you can report bugs through the add-on preferences.
