Snap Bisect earns its place in the Blender extensions library for bringing vertex and edge-midpoint snapping to the Bisect operator. Several reviewers noted they wished this precision were a native Blender feature, which is the gap this add-on fills.
Snap Bisect adds a Bisect operator to Blender that snaps to vertices or edge midpoints. It is suited for precise modeling, letting you specify the cutting plane through a couple of anchor points.
Working in Edit Mode, you select the geometry to be bisected, press F3 to find and invoke the operator, or reach it from 3D View then Mesh then Snap Bisect. Click three vertices or edge midpoints, marked in pink, and the selected edges and faces are sliced by a cutting plane that passes exactly through the picked points. As with the Bisect tool, the resulting slice stays selected. You can also select two points and press Enter for a view-aligned cut, two points plus X, Y or Z for an axis-aligned cut, or one point plus X, Y or Z for a plane-aligned cut. Pressing H enables hidden parts as anchor points while the operator is active.
Once the tool finishes, a bottom-left panel lets you enter an Offset and choose the Fill, Clear Inner and Clear Outer options. The add-on works well in orthogonal view, where axis-aligned cuts are especially handy. It is compatible with Blender 4.2 LTS and newer.
Snap Bisect is best for precise modeling where cuts need to pass exactly through chosen vertices or edge midpoints, including axis-aligned cuts in orthogonal view.
Snap Bisect is completely free to download and use.
Snap Bisect is compatible with Blender 4.2 LTS and newer, so it fits current long-term-support releases and later builds. The add-on is small, around 3.8 KB, and requires no special permissions to run. Version 1.0.6 addressed a freeze that occurred on large objects. For the exact behaviour on your specific Blender build, check the developer's page, since compatibility can shift as new Blender versions are released and older add-on versions may behave differently.
Snap Bisect installs by dragging and dropping the add-on into Blender, or by downloading it and using Install from Disk in Blender's extension preferences. Once enabled, you can reach the operator through the F3 search menu or from 3D View then Mesh then Snap Bisect. The download is a small package of roughly 3.8 KB, and it requires no special permissions. It is distributed under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later.
Snap Bisect lets you define an axis-aligned cut by selecting two points and pressing X, Y or Z. Selecting one point and pressing X, Y or Z produces a plane-aligned cut, while two points plus Enter gives a view-aligned cut. The default approach is clicking three vertices or edge midpoints, marked in pink, so the cutting plane passes exactly through them. The add-on works well in orthogonal view, where axis-aligned cuts are especially handy.
Snap Bisect is listed as free here, and it is released under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later. The add-on requires no special permissions and comes as a small package of roughly 3.8 KB. For current licensing terms and any updates, check the developer's page. After a cut finishes, a bottom-left panel lets you set an Offset and toggle Fill, Clear Inner and Clear Outer, so you can adjust the result without repeating the operation.
