UDON stands out in the superhive library for turning node groups into native-behaving custom nodes with graphical UI controls and no code. Note that it is currently in beta, and the custom nodes only work with UDON enabled.
UDON Custom Node Builder [Beta] is a Blender add-on for making your own custom nodes across Geometry, Shader, and Compositing nodes. It converts node groups into real nodes with a single click, exposing selected inner node properties to a custom UI without writing any code. The custom nodes behave like native ones, appearing in the standard Add Node menu and node search under existing or your own categories.
You build node UIs through a graphical interface: sort properties, set custom names and tooltips, add separators and labels, choose how each property displays, and set a node's header colour and default width. Supported property types include number sliders, checkboxes, vectors, text fields, drop-downs, datablock pointers, and image selectors. A single UI property can control multiple inner properties, and custom nodes can be nested inside other custom nodes or converted back into plain node groups.
Library management saves custom nodes to a global library, making them available across Blender sessions regardless of the .blend file. Version management lets you update library nodes and pull new versions into local instances. UDON is currently in beta, and it is required both to create and to use custom nodes.
Udon Custom Node Builder [Beta] is best for blender users building reusable custom nodes for Geometry, Shader, and Compositing who want native-style UI controls without writing code.
Udon Custom Node Builder [Beta] is completely free to download and use.
UDON Custom Node Builder supports Geometry, Shader, and Compositing nodes. It converts a node group in any of these editors into a real custom node with a single click, and the resulting node behaves like a native one. Your custom nodes appear in the standard Add Node menu and in the node search, and you can place them under existing categories or any number of your own custom categories. You can also nest custom nodes inside other custom nodes, or convert them back into plain node groups whenever you need to.
UDON Custom Node Builder is required both to create and to use custom nodes, and custom nodes only work with UDON enabled. The add-on does not ship with any new nodes of its own — it is the tool that turns your node groups into custom nodes and runs them. Anyone opening a file that contains your custom nodes will need UDON enabled for those nodes to function. The developer's documentation portal and FAQ page cover this behaviour in more detail.
UDON Custom Node Builder requires no code to create custom nodes. You transform node groups into real nodes with a single click, then build each node's interface through a graphical editor. There you sort properties into a custom order, set names and tooltips, add separators and labels, choose whether property labels show, display numeric fields as bounded or unbounded sliders, and set property subtype and unit. You can also set the node's header colour and a custom default width, all without touching any code.
UDON Custom Node Builder includes library management so your custom nodes are available across Blender sessions, regardless of which .blend file you are working on. Nodes saved to the global library appear in the standard Add Node menu just like local nodes. Version management lets you update library nodes when you change them locally, and pull a new version to update all local instances, while existing instances in a file are not affected by library changes until you choose to update. Icons show when a node has been modified locally or in the library.
UDON Custom Node Builder is listed as free in this catalog. It is currently in beta, so the developer's page is the place to confirm current licensing and any terms before you download. That page and the documentation portal also cover installation instructions and the full feature set, so it is worth checking there for the most up-to-date details on availability and how the beta is being distributed.
