Earns its place in the Superhive library as a focused UV tidying add-on that extends the familiar Follow Active Quads options.
UV Align And Follow is a Blender add-on for straightening UV layouts after unwrapping. A common situation is that a nearly-regular surface, such as slightly curved planes or slightly tapered cylinders, gets laid out into a curved or warped shape that is especially awkward for painting. This add-on offers a one-click approach: select a UV quad so it is active, choose the operator, and it aligns that quad into a rectangle while the remaining island quads follow, aligning everything to horizontal and vertical coordinates into a rectangular grid.
Results depend on the active quad, so a quad that already resembles the desired rectangle shape is preferable, though any choice will be laid out into a workable grid. Three follow options are available, the same as with Follow Active Quads: Even produces similar rectangles, Length Average accounts for quad sizes so larger or smaller quads yield larger or smaller rectangles, and Length resizes quads independently.
The add-on is run from the UV menu at the top of the UV Editor or from the right-click context menu. It is released under the MIT license.
Uv Align And Follow is best for blender artists cleaning up UV layouts of nearly-regular surfaces into tidy rectangular grids after unwrapping.
Uv Align And Follow is completely free to download and use.
UV Align And Follow lists compatibility with Blender versions 4.3, 4.2, 4.1, 4.0, 3.6, 3.5, 3.4, 3.3, 3.2, 3.1 and 3.0. Version 1.2 made it usable in Blender 4.2, while version 1.1 restored functionality for Blender 4.0 and its new follow operator. It is also marked as Blender Extension compatible. Check the developer's page to confirm the version you need is covered before installing.
UV Align And Follow installs through Edit > Preferences > Add-ons > Install, where you open the add-on's .zip file and tick the checkbox next to the UV Align and Follow entry that appears. Alternatively, you can save the uv_align_and_follow folder into your Blender add-ons directory. Once enabled, the tool is used in Edit Mode with faces selected so they show in the UV Editor, then run from the UV menu or the right-click context menu.
UV Align And Follow provides three follow options, the same as Blender's Follow Active Quads. Even results in similar rectangles across the island. Length Average accounts for quad sizes when adjusting, so areas with larger or smaller quads produce larger or smaller rectangles. Length resizes quads independently, which may not be able to fit into a rectangular grid. Results depend on the active quad you select, so choosing one that already resembles the shape you want is preferable.
UV Align And Follow is listed as free here in the catalog, and it is released under the MIT license. For current licensing terms, visit the developer's page rather than relying on this listing. The add-on itself offers a one-click way to align the active UV quad into a rectangle and have the rest of the island's quads follow into a tidy grid. A demo video is also available if you want to see how it works before installing it into your Blender setup.
