Earns its place in the Blender extensions library for mapping five camera modes and cinematic controls to an Xbox controller.
Xbox Controller Camera is a Blender add-on by marie.marthenorman for driving the 3D viewport and scene camera with an Xbox controller. It runs on Windows and works with Blender 4.2 LTS and newer.
The add-on provides five camera modes: Free, Dolly, Crane, Orbit, and Tracking. Movement can be smoothed with an adjustable setting for cinematic motion, and a roll lock keeps the horizon level. Focal length is controlled via the D-Pad in camera view, and a speed boost is triggered by clicking L3 for fast navigation.
Keyframes can be added with the Start button, or you can switch to auto-keyframe mode. The extension does not require special permissions and is released under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later. It ships as a small package that can be dragged into Blender or installed from disk.
Xbox Controller Camera is best for blender users on Windows who want to drive the viewport and scene camera with an Xbox controller.
Xbox Controller Camera is completely free to download and use.
Xbox Controller Camera is compatible with Blender 4.2 LTS and newer, so version 4.2 is supported. The add-on is currently at version 1.0.0, published in March 2026. Before installing, confirm your Blender build meets the 4.2 LTS minimum, and check the developer's page for any later releases that may extend compatibility to newer versions of Blender.
Xbox Controller Camera is Windows only. The extension is distributed as a Windows package, and controller input is handled on that platform. If you work on another operating system, this add-on will not be a fit in its current form. Check the developer's page for updates, as platform support may change in future versions of the add-on.
Xbox Controller Camera can be installed by dragging and dropping the extension into Blender, or by downloading the package and using Install from Disk. The download is a small file of around 7.7 KB. The add-on does not require special permissions. Refer to Blender's extensions documentation for the Install from Disk steps if you prefer that method over drag and drop.
Xbox Controller Camera is listed as free here and is released under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later. That license governs how you may use, modify, and redistribute the add-on. For current licensing details and any terms tied to future versions, refer to the developer's page on the Blender extensions site.
