A3DA Parser earns its place in the Blender Extensions library for covering a niche animation format from Full PV imports down to MMD ready conversion tools. Export is flagged as experimental and lights aren't supported, so it currently leans toward import work.

What is A3DA Parser?

A3DA Parser is a Blender add-on that imports and exports Auth3D Assembly files (.a3da) from the Project Diva game saga. It works with .a3da files from every Project Diva game as long as they are in text format, and also supports Miracle Girls Festival, which is built on the same engine. Full PV Import covers Project Diva Future Tone / MegaMix+, Project Diva F and Project Diva F2nd, while the Single File and Camera importers accept a3da from any game.

On import, the add-on handles camera animation with transformations and DOF, object animation with transformations, visibility and instances, and texture transformations with patterns. Looping animations are set up as FCurve modifiers. Morphs and HRC skeletal animation have partial support and need manual setup or retargeting after import, and lights are not supported. Export is still experimental, though the produced files load and work on Future Tone.

Several miscellaneous tools are built in for model setup, manipulating imported animation, converting to MMD ready assets and creating Auth3D animation. The import button sits in File > Import > Diva A3DA Animation (.a3da) and in the A3DA N-Panel, with a Mode dropdown for switching between import modes.

A3DA Parser lists compatibility with Blender 4.5 LTS and newer, so it is built for current releases rather than older versions. The add-on can be added by dragging and dropping it into Blender, or by downloading and installing it from disk. It is distributed under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later. The current release is version 1.0.21, whose changelog notes fixes to typos in the UI and in operator names, so anyone on 4.5 or a later build should be able to run it as intended.

Which Project Diva games does A3DA Parser support?

A3DA Parser is compatible with .a3da files from every game in the Project Diva saga, provided the files are in text rather than binary format. If you select a folder in Single File mode, all files in that folder are imported with the same settings. Full PV Import loads a whole PV by reading all a3da files, a dsc file, and pv_field / pfl, and a quick usage tutorial for that mode is available.
