Armature to Mesh stands out in the Blender extensions library for a focused job: turning an armature's bones into mesh geometry with control over shape, joints, size, and density.
Armature to Mesh is a Blender add-on by SamRog94 that turns armature bones into a mesh. It generates geometry from an armature's bones, with control over the bone mesh shape, joint spheres, size, and density.
Bone shapes can be set to octahedral, cylinder, or rectangle, and a joint sphere mesh can be added at the joints. A toggle excludes non-deformer bones such as IK handles, so only deform bones contribute to the result. Version 1.0.2 added an Enable Bone Shapes option to include or exclude bones from the generated mesh, mirroring the Enable Joint Spheres functionality, and moved the Deform Bones Only control into the Bone Shape panel.
The add-on is compatible with Blender 4.2 LTS and newer, requires no special permissions, and is released under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later. It installs by dragging the file into Blender or through Install from Disk.
Armature to Mesh is best for blender users who want to generate mesh geometry from an armature's bones.
Armature to Mesh is completely free to download and use.
Armature to Mesh is compatible with Blender 4.2 LTS and newer, so it runs on the 4.2 long-term support release and later versions. The add-on requires no special permissions and is written entirely in Python. You can add it by dragging the downloaded file into Blender or by using Install from Disk from the extensions preferences. If you are on an older Blender release, you would need to update to at least 4.2 LTS before installing it.
Armature to Mesh installs in two ways: you can drag and drop the add-on file directly into Blender, or download the file and use Install from Disk from Blender's extensions preferences. It requires no special permissions to run and is written entirely in Python. Once enabled, its options for bone mesh shape, joint spheres, size, and density become available for converting an armature's bones into a mesh.
Armature to Mesh lets you set the bone mesh shape to octahedral, cylinder, or rectangle. Alongside the bone shapes, you can add a joint sphere mesh and adjust size and density for the generated geometry. A toggle excludes non-deformer bones such as IK handles so only deform bones are included. Version 1.0.2 added an Enable Bone Shapes option to include or exclude bones from the generated mesh, mirroring the Enable Joint Spheres control.
Armature to Mesh is listed as free here and is released under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later. For current licensing terms and any updates, check the developer's page. The add-on requires no special permissions and is compatible with Blender 4.2 LTS and newer. You can install it by dragging the file into Blender or through Install from Disk in the extensions preferences.
