Why we like it

Merge Master takes a non-destructive route to a task usually handled with booleans, remesh, shrinkwrap or manual sculpting. Note that it needs a sufficiently subdivided mesh, and baking applies that subdivision, so final mesh density runs high — the developer suggests watching the tutorial first to see if it fits your workflow.

What is Merge Master?

Merge Master fuses two separate objects into one continuous surface for Blender 5.0 and later, without altering your source meshes. You pick two meshes, hit Activate or press Ctrl+Shift+M, and one fuses onto the surface of the other with a clean adhesion between them. The whole process stays live and reversible.

Adjustments update in real time as you move the sliders, with no setup steps or precomputation. Your original topology stays untouched — vertex count, edges, faces and UV maps are preserved exactly as you authored them — and you can keep editing Object A while the merge is active. Global Merge handles most of the work from a single slider, scaling Strength, Radius and Normals together, while individual sliders remain for fine control.

Optional live material blending creates a texture transition between the two materials with independent intensity per side, and an optional boolean cut removes hidden interior geometry, which is useful for 3D printing. You can adhere many objects onto one target and chain merges live. Custom falloff curves, Smooth, Linear, Sharp and Sphere presets, and Simple or Advanced subdivision round it out. It suits product visualization, hard-surface and organic concepting, look development, renders and stills.

Who is Merge Master best for?

Merge Master is best for product visualization and design concepts, hard-surface and organic concepting, and look development, renders and stills.

How much does Merge Master cost?

Merge Master is completely free to download and use.

Key features

  • Real-time blending that updates as you move the sliders, even on dense meshes, with no setup steps or precomputation
  • Topology and UV preservation — vertex count, edges, faces and UV maps stay exactly as you authored them while the blend runs
  • Global Merge single-slider workflow that scales Strength, Radius and Normals together, with individual sliders for fine control
  • Optional live material blending, creating a texture transition between Object A's and Object B's materials with independent intensity per side
  • Optional boolean operation cutting Object A against Object B so the finalized mesh carries no hidden interior geometry, useful for 3D printing
  • Multi-mesh adhesion with live chaining — adhere many objects onto a shared or already-merged target, each with its own settings
  • Custom falloff curve with Smooth, Linear, Sharp and Sphere presets plus a curve editor, and Simple or Advanced subdivision modes

Frequently asked questions

Does Merge Master work with Blender 5.0?

Merge Master is built for Blender 5.0 and later. To use it, you pick two meshes and hit Activate or press Ctrl+Shift+M, and one mesh fuses onto the surface of the other with a clean adhesion between them. The whole process stays live and reversible, and it never alters your source meshes, so you can back out at any point. For details on supported Blender releases beyond 5.0, along with installation and parameters, check the developer's page and the included README.

Can Merge Master produce game-ready assets?

Merge Master needs a sufficiently subdivided mesh to work, and when you bake the result that subdivision gets applied, so the final mesh density ends up high. If you are targeting game-ready assets, keep that density in mind before committing. The developer recommends watching the YouTube tutorial first to understand whether Merge Master fits your workflow. It is aimed more at product visualization, hard-surface and organic concepting, look development, renders and stills than at low-poly deliverables.

Does Merge Master work with glass or refractive materials?

Merge Master is not suitable for glass or refractive materials. Its optional live material blending creates a texture transition between Object A's material and Object B's material across the merge zone, with independent intensity per side so you control how far each one bleeds in. Version 2.0 added a native Cycles solution for diffuse and matte boundary shading. For refractive surfaces, though, the adhesion blending is not designed to handle them, so plan your materials accordingly.

How do I install Merge Master?

Merge Master ships as a single add-on file, merge_master.py, alongside a README that documents installation, usage, parameters and troubleshooting. Install it the way you would any Blender add-on, then pick two meshes and press Activate or Ctrl+Shift+M to start a merge. Clean normals matter for good results, so if a blend looks strange, check your normals first. For step-by-step installation guidance, refer to the README and the developer's page.

Is Merge Master free?

Merge Master is listed as free here in the catalog. Licensing terms can change over time, so check the developer's page for current details before relying on it. The download includes the merge_master.py add-on and a README covering installation, usage, parameters and troubleshooting, and a demo video is available. Because the tool stays non-destructive and never alters your source meshes, you can try a merge and back it out without committing to anything.
