Earns a spot in the superhive library by handling a tedious job — camera work across 5,000 to 7,000 frames — with one click, and by exporting motion to both MMD and Daz Studio.
Dance animations often run 5,000 to 7,000 frames, and building camera motion by hand is painful. Auto Dance Camera automates it in Blender: pick your character's armature, click Generate, and the addon creates a new camera named "Auto Dance Camera" with motion on it and sets it as the active camera. It combines 4x3x3x3x5=540 shots with professional composition, generating only those that fit the character's pose.
The addon supports any character type, with built-in profiles for Daz, CC3, MMD, Rigify, and Mixamo; for anything else, check "Pick Bone" and select the bone names. You can adjust moving speed and the minimum and maximum length of shots for pop or slow romantic songs, generate front shots only when composing, track eye position to keep the character in frame, set an offset for different characters, and re-generate a range of the motion.
Camera motion exports to a .vmd file for MMD or a .duf file for Daz Studio; any Blender camera can be exported. On Windows 64-bit, a separate tool extracts melody beats from a song into a beat file you load to fit motion to the audio.
Auto Dance Camera is best for blender users creating camera motion for long dance animations, and those exporting camera work to MMD or Daz Studio.
Auto Dance Camera is completely free to download and use.
Auto Dance Camera requires Blender 3.0 or later, and the listed addon version is 2.4.3. You install it from the .zip file you receive from the online shop, then search for "Auto Dance Camera" in your addon list and enable it. To open the controls, press N in the viewport and select the "Auto Dance Camera" panel. If you have not installed a Blender addon before, the developer suggests searching online for how to do it.
Auto Dance Camera works with any character type and includes built-in support for Daz, CC3, MMD, Rigify, and Mixamo. If your character is not one of these, enable the "Pick Bone" option on the addon panel and select the bone names it needs. To generate motion, pick your character's armature on the panel and click Generate; the addon creates a new camera named "Auto Dance Camera", places the motion on it, and sets it as the active camera in your active collection.
Auto Dance Camera can generate camera motion that fits a song's melody beats, but this feature is Windows 64-bit only. A separate tool, run from the "Audio Beat" download, extracts beats from your chosen song and saves a beat file named audio_name_beat.npy. In Blender, check "Use Audio Beat File" on the panel, load the file, then generate. You can pick from three audio types — song, vocal, or music — and the beat file can be reused for the same song without regenerating it.
Auto Dance Camera exports camera motion to a .vmd file for use in MMD or a .duf file for Daz Studio. Select a camera or its empty parent, click the matching export button, and save the file. In Daz Studio, select a camera and load the saved .duf file. You can export any Blender camera this way, not only the one the addon creates, so motion brought in through a VMD retargeting workflow can also be sent out to Daz Studio.
Auto Dance Camera is listed as free in this catalog. Licensing and distribution terms can change, so check the developer's page for the current details before you rely on it. The addon is delivered as a .zip from the online shop, and its GitHub repository is used only for documentation and issue tracking rather than source code, so support questions and reports have a dedicated place to go.
