Align Pivot - set of scripts to managing pivots
by Kstudio

AutoPivot stands out for taking a different route than the standard 3ds Max pivot command, calculating the center of mass instead of using the Selection Bracket.
AutoPivot is a script for 3ds Max from Visuali Studio built to move an object's pivot with less manual effort. It bundles two separate scripts: AutoPivot_Center relocates the pivot to the center, while AutoPivot_Bottom moves it to the foot.
Where the standard 3ds Max command positions the pivot using the Selection Bracket, AutoPivot instead calculates the center of mass and moves the pivot accordingly. For Mesh and Poly objects it works from the center of mass, and for Spline objects it uses the average position of the vertices.
Version 1.2 improved speed by up to 20x on heavy geometry and fixed an issue where the pivot got lost on open-edge geometry, along with a fix for the script not working on groups within a group. It's listed here as free, and you can find it through Visuali Studio.
AutoPivot is best for 3ds Max users who need to reposition an object's pivot to its center or lowest point.
AutoPivot is completely free to download and use.
AutoPivot handles object types differently depending on their kind. For Mesh and Poly objects it calculates the center of mass and moves the pivot to that location. For Spline objects it instead uses the average position of the vertices. The two included scripts, AutoPivot_Center and AutoPivot_Bottom, let you send the pivot either to the center or down to the foot of the object, so you can choose the placement that suits the geometry you're working on.
AutoPivot takes a different approach from the standard 3ds Max command for moving pivots. The built-in command positions the pivot using the Selection Bracket, whereas AutoPivot calculates the center of mass and moves the pivot accordingly. That distinction is the core of what the script does, and it applies the center-of-mass method to Mesh and Poly objects while using the average vertex position for Spline objects. You run it through its two scripts, AutoPivot_Center and AutoPivot_Bottom.
AutoPivot is listed here as free. For current licensing details it's best to check the developer's page at Visuali Studio, since terms can change over time. The script itself is distributed for 3ds Max and includes both AutoPivot_Center and AutoPivot_Bottom, so you get the center and foot placement options together. If you want the latest version or any updates beyond version 1.2, the developer's page is the place to look.
AutoPivot version 1.2, released on 2021-07-30, brought two fixes and one performance change. Speed was improved by up to 20x on heavy geometry. A fix addressed an issue where the pivot got lost on open-edge geometry, and another resolved the script not working on groups nested within a group. The changelog also records the first release, and version 1.2 is the version listed here for AutoPivot.
