Biped Manipulator earns its place in the ScriptSpot library for name-based selection that works across Character Studio, CAT and custom rigs, with a compact interface and updates that carry it through 3ds Max 2024.
Biped Manipulator is a MAXScript for 3ds Max that speeds up selection of objects and bones, and can select whole groups of objects such as arms, legs and spine. It selects objects using their names, so it can be used with any rig system, including Character Studio, CAT and custom rigs.
The manipulator does not occupy much screen space. When several bipeds are present in a scene, you can run several Biped Manipulators at once. In version 2.0.0 the Hand Manipulator was merged into Biped Manipulator, switchable with Shift+click on the "F/f" control, and all manipulator parts became configurable alongside rewritten selection functions.
Version 2.1.0 added support for Biped Knuckles bones by default and included an "Unhide Selection" macro script. The current release, version 2.1.1 from June 2023, fixed the manipulator color and installation paths for 3ds Max 2024 and later. A demo video is available, and the developer's page has further details.
Biped Manipulator is best for 3ds Max animators selecting bones and objects across biped and custom rigs.
Biped Manipulator is completely free to download and use.
Biped Manipulator supports 3ds Max 2024 and later. Version 2.1.1, released in June 2023, fixed the manipulator color and installation paths specifically for 3ds Max 2024 and newer. The tool is a MAXScript, and it selects objects and bones by their names rather than depending on a single rig type, so it can be used with Character Studio, CAT and custom rigs. For current details and download, check the developer's page at veda3d.com.
Biped Manipulator selects objects and bones using their names, which means it is not tied to one rig system. It can be used with Character Studio, CAT and custom rigs. Beyond individual objects and bones, it can select whole groups of objects such as arms, legs and spine. If a scene contains several bipeds, you can run several Biped Manipulators at once for convenience. Further information is available on the developer's page.
Biped Manipulator is listed as free here in the catalog. For current licensing terms and the latest download, refer to the developer's page at veda3d.com. The current version is 2.1.1 from June 2023, which addressed the manipulator color and installation paths for 3ds Max 2024 and later. Earlier updates added support for Biped Knuckles bones by default and included an "Unhide Selection" macro script.
Biped Manipulator merged the Hand Manipulator into it in version 2.0.0. To switch between the two, use Shift+click on the "F/f" control. That same release also made all manipulator parts configurable and rewrote the selection functions. Later, version 2.1.0 added support for Biped Knuckles bones by default and bundled an "Unhide Selection" macro script. These features are described on the developer's page at veda3d.com.
