Why we like it

Bookmark View earns its place in the Superhive library as a focused utility for saving and recalling exact 3D viewport positions in Blender.

What is Bookmark View?

Bookmark View is a Blender add-on for saving the exact position of the 3D viewport so you can return to it later with a single click. Rather than navigating back to an awkward view position each time, you bookmark it once and jump straight back whenever you need it.

You can add as many bookmarks as you like, delete them, replace a bookmark with the current view, reorder the list, and name each one yourself or let the add-on name it for you. Bookmarks only affect the active 3D view and the add-on works in Quad mode. A viewport shading option records and restores the shading mode, such as Wireframe, Solid or Rendered, and there is also an option to record and restore the viewport lens.

The add-on is aimed at modellers, animators and anyone who doesn't want to navigate the viewport into a tricky position more than once. A demo video is available. Bookmark View is listed under the GPL license.

Frequently asked questions

Which Blender versions does Bookmark View support?

Bookmark View lists compatibility with Blender 2.7x, 2.8, 2.81, and the 3.0 through 3.6 series, as well as 4.0. That range covers a wide span of releases, so most established Blender installations should be able to run the add-on. If you are on a version outside this list, check the developer's page for the latest compatibility details before relying on it in a project.

Does Bookmark View save the viewport shading mode as well as the position?

Bookmark View includes a viewport shading option that records and restores the shading mode, such as Wireframe, Solid or Rendered, alongside the saved view. There is also an option to record and restore the viewport lens if that is something you need. Both of these are optional, so you can bookmark just the exact viewport position on its own, or include the shading and lens settings when you save and return to a view.

Does Bookmark View affect all viewports at once?

Bookmark View only changes the active 3D view, so recalling a bookmark affects the viewport you are working in rather than every open view. It also works in Quad mode. You can add as many bookmarks as you need, delete them, reorder them in the list, replace one with the current view, and name each bookmark yourself or let the add-on assign a name for you.

Is Bookmark View free, and what license does it use?

Bookmark View is listed as free here and is distributed under the GPL license. For current licensing terms and any purchase or download details, check the developer's page directly. The add-on is a Dev Fund contributor listing on Superhive, where it has gathered a set of positive ratings from users, so you can review that feedback on the product page before installing it.
