Earns its place in the blender_extensions library by consolidating mesh checking, a heatmap view, and a live HUD into a single sidebar tab.
YL MeshCheckHUD is a Blender add-on for checking mesh issues directly in the viewport, fixing a model, and seeing whether the problems have been cleaned up in real time. Its core tool, Check Mode, displays common topology issues on the model and shows the count of each issue type in a sidebar list, updating as you work without a manual refresh. Supported checks include Ngons, overlapping vertices, loose vertices, needle triangles, tiny faces, triangle faces, poles, non-manifold edges, and sharp edges.
Alongside Check Mode, the add-on includes a Realtime HUD that shows mesh information in the viewport, such as triangle count, object dimensions, statistics for multiple selected objects, Edit Mode element dimensions, and an unapplied scale warning. Heatmap Preview uses color to visualize object triangle counts and lists triangle percentage, material and material slot count, and UV count.
Version 1.2.0 added a Triangles check, Check Result Selection for picking problem elements with one click, and independent toggles for the Text HUD, Heatmap, and Mesh Check. The add-on supports Blender 4.2 through 5.3 and is released under GPL v3.0 or later.
YL MeshCheckHUD is best for pre-delivery model checks, hard-surface model cleanup, and finding problematic objects in large scenes.
YL MeshCheckHUD is completely free to download and use.
YL MeshCheckHUD lists support for Blender versions 4.2 through 5.3, and the catalog notes Blender 4.2 LTS compatibility. After installing, you open the 3D Viewport Sidebar by pressing N and switch to the YL MeshCheckHUD tab, where Check Mode, Heatmap Preview, and Realtime HUD are grouped. If you run a version near the edge of that range, check the developer's GitHub page for the current compatibility details before installing, since a supported range can shift between releases.
YL MeshCheckHUD lives in the 3D Viewport Sidebar. After installation, press N to open the sidebar and go to the YL MeshCheckHUD tab. The add-on groups three main tools there: Check Mode, Heatmap Preview, and Realtime HUD. You can add it by dragging and dropping the add-on into Blender, or by downloading and installing it manually. For the download and any setup notes, the developer's GitHub page is the place to look.
YL MeshCheckHUD's Check Mode covers Ngons, overlapping vertices, loose vertices, needle triangles, tiny faces, triangle faces, poles, non-manifold edges, and sharp edges. It shows each issue type directly on the model along with a count in the sidebar list, and the results update as you fix the mesh without a manual refresh. Check Result Selection adds a one-click button next to each item that selects the related vertices, edges, or faces, working in both Object Mode and Edit Mode to help you locate the reported problem.
YL MeshCheckHUD is released under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later, and it is listed as free here in the catalog. For the current licensing terms, source code, and release details, the developer's GitHub page is the authoritative source. The extension notes it does not require special permissions. Version 1.2.0 is the current release, which added a Triangles check, Check Result Selection, independent feature toggles, and an object list toggle among its updates.
