Grid Modeler
by KushiroCG
Grid Modeler is a modeling add-on for Blender that builds 3D models using a grid-based workflow. It handles Boolean cuts from drawn shapes and creates new mesh geometry on top of existing surfaces.

Construction Lines earns its place in the superhive library, where it sits at rank 33, by bringing geometry-based snaps and guide workflows to Blender modelling. It is still in Beta and updated regularly, and it is not meant for very dense meshes, so factor that in.
Construction Lines brings CAD-style accurate modelling to Blender. Its workflow centres on snappable guide edges and points: set the guides first, then build models within them. The guides won't interfere with model geometry, can be toggled on and off, and are never rendered, with guide edges disappearing when you work outside the add-on.
Rectangles, circles and arcs can be drawn in place from precise snap points on existing geometry or guides, anywhere on a 3D model without relying on Blender's 3D cursor. Drawing a shape onto an existing face automatically cuts into that face, and the add-on works between Object and Edit modes. Lines fill in faces where geometry is closed, and numeric input accepts mathematical operators for exact sizes.
Construction Lines is currently in Beta and receives regular fixes and improvements. It is not intended for use on very dense meshes. It sits at rank 33 in the superhive library and supports Blender 3.6 through 5.1.
Construction Lines - Accurate Cad Modelling Add-On is best for blender users who want accurate, CAD-style modelling with guide-based workflows, and people coming from packages such as SketchUp looking to get started in Blender.
Construction Lines - Accurate Cad Modelling Add-On is completely free to download and use.
Construction Lines supports Blender 3.6 through 5.1. Support for Blender 5.0 and 5.1 was added in version 0.9.7, released on 29 May 2026. That release also brought grid snapping in perspective mode with a toggle in the Tool Panel, persistent dimensions and guides that remain visible after exiting the tool, and speed improvements to snapping and mesh indexing on large scenes and complex meshes. If you are on an earlier build, the add-on still covers the 3.6 to 5.1 range.
Construction Lines lets you build lines, shapes and guides to exact size using numeric input, and that input accepts the mathematical operators * / + - for calculations. You can limit drawing and movement to the X, Y or Z axes, and move objects accurately with snap points or numeric input. It also auto snaps to perpendicular edge direction and edge extensions, offers grid snapping, and can precisely measure distances. Persistent dimensions can be shown on guides.
Construction Lines is not intended for use on very dense meshes, so it is best suited to cleaner CAD-style geometry. The add-on is currently in Beta and is regularly updated with fixes and improvements. Version 0.9.7 did improve snapping and mesh indexing speed when working with large scenes and complex meshes, and changed hovering so it no longer needs to select an object to query its mesh. Even so, keep the dense-mesh limitation in mind when planning your work.
Construction Lines is listed as free in this catalog. The developer's page notes that the price was reduced during Beta, so for current licensing and any pricing details it is best to check Dan Norris's own page directly. Installation instructions, full documentation, an FAQ section and a tutorial video are all linked from there, which is the most reliable place to confirm the latest terms before you download the add-on.
Construction Lines works between Object and Edit modes in Blender. In edit mode it supports moving and deleting geometry, and across the tool you can draw lines and shapes, create guide edges and points, and cut into existing meshes. Drawing a shape onto an existing face automatically cuts into that face and creates the extra geometry needed, letting shapes be extruded in and out of existing meshes. Box selection and automatic duplication with object linking are also available.
