DJI Proxy Switcher earns its place in the blender_extensions library for handling a narrow, repetitive task—swapping DJI proxy and full-res footage—directly inside the Video Sequence Editor, and it requires no special permissions.
DJI cameras record a lightweight LRF proxy at 1280×720 alongside a full-resolution MP4 at 3840×2160. DJI Proxy Switcher automates swapping between the two inside Blender's Video Sequence Editor, so you can edit with the smaller proxy and move to 4K before export without manual rescaling.
The add-on handles the switch in both directions, LRF to MP4 and back again, and applies automatic scale correction as it does. You can process every clip in the sequence or limit the change to selected clips only, and a live clip counter in the panel tracks what's affected. The interface is available in English and French. LRF and MP4 files need to sit in the same folder for the swap to work.
The workflow follows a simple order: edit with LRF proxies, lock your cut, switch to MP4, then export. The tools live in the DJI Tools tab of the Video Sequence Editor sidebar, opened with the N key.
DJI Proxy Switcher is best for blender video editors working with DJI footage who cut on LRF proxies and switch to full-resolution MP4 for export.
DJI Proxy Switcher is completely free to download and use.
DJI Proxy Switcher lists compatibility with Blender 4.2 LTS and newer, so it runs on that release and later versions. It operates inside the Video Sequence Editor, where you open the sidebar with the N key and find its controls under the DJI Tools tab. The add-on requires no special permissions. For the current version and any updates beyond 2.1.1, check the developer's page on GitHub before installing.
DJI Proxy Switcher moves clips between the two files DJI cameras record together: a lightweight LRF proxy at 1280×720 and a full-resolution MP4 at 3840×2160. You can switch from LRF to MP4 to reach full resolution before export, or from MP4 back to LRF to return to the lighter proxy for continued editing. It applies scale correction automatically during the swap, so clips match their new resolution.
DJI Proxy Switcher requires the LRF and MP4 files to be located in the same folder for the swap to work. With both files together, you can switch every clip in the sequence or enable the Selected only option to change specific clips, and the live clip counter in the panel shows how many are affected. Keeping the paired proxy and full-res files side by side is the main setup step before using the add-on.
DJI Proxy Switcher is listed as free in this catalog, and it's released under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later; check the developer's GitHub page for current licensing. You can add it to Blender by dragging and dropping the extension into the application, or by downloading it and using Install from Disk. Once installed, open the Video Sequence Editor, press N for the sidebar, and go to the DJI Tools tab.
