Why we like it

Graft keeps its scope tight — turning a finished Blender render into a layered, Photoshop-ready PSD. It covers the archviz essentials: graded and ungraded beauty passes plus ObjectID and MaterialID Cryptomatte layers, and detects existing Glare and Color Correction chains to wire them in automatically. Developed by Raih Inc. in Tokyo, it earns its place for automating that PSD hand-off the moment rendering completes.

What is Graft - Blender Psd Auto-Compositor?

Graft is a Blender add-on aimed at architectural and interior visualization. It generates a Photoshop-ready PSD from your Render Layers output, and the moment a render finishes the PSD is created automatically. The file carries four layers: Beauty (graded), Raw (ungraded), ObjectID via Cryptomatte, and MaterialID via Cryptomatte. Alongside the PSD it writes a Beauty JPG, both named from the scene.

Setup runs from the Graft tab in the 3D Viewport Sidebar. Clicking Run Setup enables the Cryptomatte passes and adds the Graft node set, then hitting F12 produces the PSD on completion. Graft also detects existing compositing chains such as Glare and Color Correction and wires them in automatically. For multi-angle work, you assign each camera angle to a separate frame number.

It requires Blender 4.0 or later and ImageMagick, a free external dependency that isn't bundled. Windows users get a one-click installer in the Graft Preferences panel, while Mac users install it through Homebrew. Graft is developed by Raih Inc. in Tokyo, Japan.

Frequently asked questions

Which Blender versions has Graft been tested on?

Graft requires Blender 4.0 or later and has been tested on several builds: 4.2.2 LTS, 4.3.2, 4.5 LTS, 5.0.0, and 5.1. The most recent v1.7.4 update, which fixed a case where the sidebar panel could appear blank when Graft was installed as a Blender 4.2+ extension, was verified on Blender 5.1. That fix was display-only and did not affect PSD generation or Cryptomatte setup. If you run one of the listed versions, the add-on's core behaviour is covered by the developer's own testing.

Does Graft need ImageMagick installed?

Graft depends on ImageMagick, a free external tool that is not bundled with the add-on. On Windows you can install it with a one-click button in the Graft Preferences panel; if it isn't detected, click Install ImageMagick. On Mac you install it through Homebrew by running brew install imagemagick, which means Homebrew has to be present first. After installing, restart Blender so Graft can pick it up, then render as usual to generate your PSD.

How do I install Graft in Blender?

Graft installs from the graft_v1.7.4.zip download. In Blender, open Edit, then Preferences, then Get Extensions, and choose Install from Disk, then search for Graft and enable it. Open the Graft Preferences to set up ImageMagick if it isn't already detected, then restart Blender. To start working, open a scene, press N for the sidebar, switch to the Graft tab, click Run Setup, and hit F12 to render — the PSD is created on completion.

Is Graft free to use?

Graft is listed as free in this catalog. Licensing terms can change, so check the developer's page for the current details before you download. Once installed, the add-on generates a four-layer PSD plus a Beauty JPG each time a render finishes. According to the developer's change log, existing customers have been able to re-download later fixes and updates at no additional cost.
