Why we like it

K-Tools: Sync earns its spot in the blender_extensions catalog by handling something Blender's built-in Lock Camera to View doesn't: driving several viewports from one Master while letting you pick exactly which data syncs. The added Lock Rotation and shading analysis presets make it a broader viewport toolkit than the name suggests. Note the developer's own caveat: with Real-time Sync on and a very low Refresh Rate, the Move, Rotate and Scale gizmos can misbehave, which raising the refresh time resolves.

What is K-Tools: Sync?

K-Tools: Sync mirrors viewport navigation across selected 3D viewports based on a Master viewport, without relying on Blender's Lock Camera to View technique. Single Match synchronizes all selected views once, while Real-time Sync continuously mirrors location, rotation and zoom from the Master at a configurable Refresh Rate. The addon lives in the 3D Viewport N-Panel under a K-Tools tab.

The Sync Options subpanel lets you choose exactly what is shared: location, rotation, distance, camera zoom, camera offset, perspective, focal length, and clip start/end. An Adjust View Distance multiplier offsets zoom on controlled views when aspect ratios differ, and Auto Master switches the driving viewport to whichever one the mouse hovers over.

Beyond syncing, a Lock Rotation system freezes viewports to Top, Bottom, Left, Right, Front, Back or Camera angles, and Shading Presets apply specialized visual modes such as Silhouette, Zebra, Normals and X-Ray to individual viewports, with Smart State Capture restoring the original settings afterward. An upgraded Local View isolates selected objects across all viewports at once, with an option to keep lights visible. It runs on Blender 4.2 LTS and newer.

Who is K-Tools: Sync best for?

K-Tools: Sync is best for multi-monitor setups and complex scene reviewing, keeping rendered and clay views in sync or comparing a model across several viewports at once.

How much does K-Tools: Sync cost?

K-Tools: Sync is completely free to download and use.

Key features

  • Real-time Sync mirrors navigation from the Master viewport to all selected views at a configurable Refresh Rate; Single Match syncs them once.
  • Sync Options subpanel toggles exactly what is shared: location, rotation, distance, camera zoom, camera offset, perspective, focal length, and clip start/end.
  • Auto Master switches the driving viewport to the one under the mouse, while Set Current as Master promotes the active view and Master ID defines the commanding viewport.
  • Lock Rotation freezes viewports to Top, Bottom, Left, Right, Front, Back or Camera presets, or to the Master's current rotation.
  • Shading Presets apply 10+ visual analysis modes such as Silhouette, Zebra, Normals, Topology and X-Ray to individual viewports, with Smart State Capture restoring original shading and overlays.
  • Upgraded Local View isolates selected objects across all viewports at once, with an option to keep lights visible.
  • Session persistence saves Real-time Sync and Auto Master states in .blend files, and the View List auto-refreshes when areas or windows change.

Frequently asked questions

Does K-Tools: Sync work with Blender 4.2?

K-Tools: Sync is built for Blender 4.2 LTS and newer, so current LTS installs are covered. After installation it appears in the 3D Viewport's N-Panel under the K-Tools tab, where the View Synchronization and Lock Rotation panels live. The developer, Robert Kezives, invites bug reports and feedback through the developer's page. For exact behaviour on your specific build, it's worth confirming against the latest release notes on the developer's page before relying on it in production work.

Where does K-Tools: Sync appear after I install it?

K-Tools: Sync installs into Blender's 3D Viewport N-Panel under a K-Tools tab, split into a View Synchronization panel and a Lock Rotation panel. Global options, including the Auto Master toggle that is on by default, live in Edit > Preferences > Add-ons > K-Tools View Sync. Inside the panels you'll find the Available 3D Views list, an Identify 3D View pop-up that reports which viewport you're in, and an Update View List button to redraw that list. The list also auto-refreshes when areas or windows change.

Is K-Tools: Sync free to use?

K-Tools: Sync is listed here as free. It's released under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later, and it's available both through Blender's Extensions Platform and the developer's own page. Licensing terms and any support options can change, so check the developer's page for the current details before you download. The developer also notes that support is welcome if you find the addon useful in your own scenes.

Why do the move, rotate and scale gizmos stop working with Real-time Sync on?

K-Tools: Sync has a known issue where, with Real-time Sync enabled and the Refresh Rate set very low (for example 0.1 seconds), the Move, Rotate and Scale gizmos may not work properly at times. The developer suggests two fixes: increase the refresh time, or place the controlled viewport in a separate window. The transform operations still work correctly when triggered with the G, R and S keyboard shortcuts, so keyboard-driven editing sidesteps the problem entirely.

How does Auto Master pick the driving viewport in K-Tools: Sync?

K-Tools: Sync uses Auto Master to switch the driving viewport automatically to whichever one the mouse is currently hovering over, which suits fluid multi-window work. If you'd rather set it manually, Set Current as Master promotes the active viewport to the Driver, and the Master ID defines which viewport commands the others. Auto Master is enabled by default and can be turned on or off from the global settings in Edit > Preferences > Add-ons > K-Tools View Sync.
