Why we like it

Link Parents earns its place in the Blender extensions library by surfacing the Matrix Parent Inverse, an otherwise obscure property, directly in the Relations panel and making it editable and transferable between objects.

What is Link Parents?

Link Parents is a Blender add-on from Trukas focused on parenting objects and bones. It adds a Link Parent entry to the Link/Transfer Data menu, reachable with Ctrl+L or through Viewport > Object > Link/Transfer Data. This copies the active object's parent along with its transformation matrix, and it supports object, bone and vertex parenting.

The add-on also exposes the Matrix Parent Inverse under the object's Relations property panel, making it editable through comprehensive transformation properties. The matrix can be copied and pasted between objects, including objects in different blend files. This part of the add-on was contributed with Pullusb.

It also lets you copy and paste the inverse matrix of a Child Of bone constraint from one bone to another. Link Parents is compatible with Blender 4.2 LTS and newer, requires no special permissions, and is released under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later.

Who is Link Parents best for?

Link Parents is best for blender users working with object, bone and vertex parenting who need to copy parent relationships and edit or transfer Parent Inverse matrices.

How much does Link Parents cost?
