Node Note earns its place in the blender_extensions library for keeping annotations on the nodes themselves: styled text, clipboard images, and numbered badges. Heads-up on the version warning: files saved in v5.0+ can lose notes if reopened and saved in v4.x, while versions within 4.x stay compatible.
Node Note (节点随记) by W_Cloud is a Blender add-on for adding text and image notes directly to nodes. You reach it from the right-click menu or from the N-panel under Node > Node Notes. Text notes can be customized with font size and colors, background styling, alignment and positioning, and offset adjustments.
Image notes attach reference images to nodes, with clipboard pasting, adjustable image width, flexible positioning, and pack/unpack support for portability. You can copy from PPT or PS and paste the result as an image note. Numbered badges identify nodes through an interactive numbering mode where you click to assign a number, with customizable badge colors and navigation between numbered nodes.
Notes can be added to node group assets and will appear when the node group asset is used in other files. Many panel buttons can be right-clicked to set keyboard shortcuts. Version 1.3.0 adds multi-line textbox support in Blender 5.2 and UI improvements. The add-on works with Blender 4.2 LTS and newer and is released under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later.

Node Note is compatible with Blender 4.2 LTS and newer, and version 1.3.0 adds multi-line textbox support in Blender 5.2. There is an important version warning: saving v5.0+ files in v4.x results in missing notes when the file is reopened in v5.x. Versions within the 4.x range are fully compatible with each other, and v5.0 can load notes that were saved in v4.x. If you move files between major versions, keep this in mind to avoid losing annotations.
Node Note is available from two places inside Blender: the right-click menu, and the N-panel under Node > Node Notes. Many of the buttons in that panel can be right-clicked to set keyboard shortcuts, so you can speed up the actions you use most. From there you can add text notes, attach image notes from the clipboard, and assign numbered badges to individual nodes for identification and quick navigation.
Node Note lets you paste images from the clipboard, which means you can copy content from software like PPT or PS and paste it directly as an image note on a node. Image notes support adjustable width, flexible positioning, and pack/unpack for portability. This relies on the Clipboard permission, which lets the add-on paste text and images and copy text back to the clipboard. Reference images stay attached to the nodes they describe.
Node Note requests two permissions. Files access lets it import an image or use a font from disk, which supports the image notes and text styling features. Clipboard access lets it paste text and images from the clipboard and copy text to the clipboard, which is how clipboard image pasting works. Both permissions map directly to the note features the add-on provides, so you can review them before installing from the developer's page.
Node Note is listed as free here and is released under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later. For current licensing terms, source code, and issue reporting, check the developer's page on GitHub. The add-on can be added by dragging and dropping the download into Blender, or by installing it from disk through Blender's extension preferences. The GPL license permits use, modification, and redistribution under its terms.
