PowerLink stands out in the superhive library for extending the PowerSave workflow of using Blender as a sketchbook and recalling data, with support spanning Blender 2.8 through 5.0.
PowerLink is a standalone Blender add-on that assists with linking and appending assets. Linking creates a link to the data while maintaining the connection to the original file, while appending brings over all connected data, such as materials, and appends it to the current file.
The add-on shows lists of blend files from a directory location, such as a PowerSave folder, and allows rapid insertion of collections into your file. It can link collections into scenes. PowerLink works on its own in the N panel or in conjunction with PowerSave in the 3D view. It doesn't require PowerSave, but the two dock together in the 3D view and are built to work together.
HardOps 986_12 and higher includes a COLLECT function attached to Unify/Extract under alt, added to facilitate PowerLink and prepare files using PowerSave. Smart Collections can be made for meshes and other renderable items, and Light Collections make blank light rigs available for reuse. PowerLink is compatible with Blender 2.8 through 5.0 and is distributed under the GPL license.
Powerlink is best for blender artists linking and appending assets and inserting collections from a directory of blend files, particularly within the PowerSave workflow.
Powerlink is completely free to download and use.
PowerLink does not require PowerSave. It can run on its own in the N panel, or work in conjunction with PowerSave in the 3D view, where the two dock together and are built to work as a pair. Designed as a standalone capable of expanding on the PowerSave ecosystem, PowerLink shows lists of blend files from a directory location and allows rapid insertion of collections into your file whether or not PowerSave is present.
PowerLink lists compatibility with Blender 2.8 through 5.0 and is marked as Blender Extension Compatible. It's distributed as an add-on under the GPL license and has been published for almost six years, with over 200 sales recorded on superhive. If you're on a recent Blender release or an older one within that range, the add-on is documented to support it, and you can check the developer's page for the latest details.
PowerLink handles both linking and appending. Linking creates a link to the data while maintaining the connection to the original file. Appending brings over all connected data, such as materials, and appends it to the current file. Beyond these two options, PowerLink shows lists of blend files from a directory location, allows rapid insertion of collections into your file, and can link collections directly into scenes.
PowerLink connects with HardOps in versions 986_12 and higher, which added a COLLECT function attached to Unify/Extract under alt. That addition was made primarily to facilitate PowerLink and prepare files for it using PowerSave. With it, Smart Collections can be made on the fly for meshes and other renderable items, and Light Collections can be created so blank light rigs are available for reuse.
PowerLink is listed as free in this catalog, and it's distributed under the GPL license. Licensing terms can change, so check the developer's page for the current details before you download. The add-on is a Dev Fund Contributor entry on superhive, has gathered a handful of ratings, and comes with documentation to help you get started with linking and appending assets in Blender.
