Stands out in the superhive library for handling a wide range of clipboard formats and pasting them into several Blender editors, including stencils with alpha support. Note it works on Windows only, and pasting stencils in texture paint mode currently doesn't work in Blender versions above 4.2 due to changes in the Blender API.
Styriam Clipboard Paster brings clipboard content directly into Blender. It pastes an image into the 3D Viewport as a plane or reference, into the Image Editor, or into the Node Editor for shader, compositor, and texture work. It runs on Windows only.
Beyond flat images, the add-on pastes images as stencils in the sculpt and texture paint modes with alpha support, pastes SVG through Blender's default SVG importer, and pastes text as a Text object. You can replace an image's pixel data in place when dimensions are unchanged, swap an Image Node for a new data block, and import single or multiple files by copying them from a Windows folder, where they load from their filepaths rather than from memory. Default saving behaviour is configurable: pack, save to disk, or do nothing.
Supported clipboard formats include PNG, CF_DIBV5, CF_DIB, CF_BITMAP, CF_HDROP, SVG, and TEXT. Pasting works from the context menu and via keyboard shortcuts, and recent updates raised pasting speed for large-resolution images.
Styriam Clipboard Paster is best for blender artists on Windows who move images, SVG, and text from other applications into the 3D Viewport, Image Editor, Node Editor, or as stencils for sculpt and paint work.
Styriam Clipboard Paster is completely free to download and use.
Styriam Clipboard Paster works on Windows only. Its handling relies on Windows clipboard formats such as PNG, CF_DIBV5, CF_DIB, CF_BITMAP, CF_HDROP, SVG, and TEXT, and images copied from a Windows folder load from their filepaths rather than from memory. If you work on macOS or Linux, this add-on will not run for you. For current details and any platform notes, check the developer's page before installing.
Styriam Clipboard Paster lists Blender 4.2.0+ support and comes in two versions: one for Blender 2.81 and newer, and one for Blender 2.79. The 2.79 version does not handle alpha channels, is not developed further, and does not work with the RTX patch build. One caveat on newer Blender: pasting images as stencils in texture paint mode currently doesn't work in versions above 4.2 due to recent changes to the Blender API.
Styriam Clipboard Paster can be triggered from the context menu or with keyboard shortcuts. Ctrl + Shift + V pastes an image, image node, or stencil, while Ctrl + Shift + Alt + V pastes an image as a reference. You can also import single or multiple files by copying them from a Windows folder, in which case they are brought into Blender by their filepaths. Default saving behaviour is configurable, so you can pack files, save them to disk, or do nothing.
Styriam Clipboard Paster supports alpha when pasting images, including PNG with alpha and DIBs with alpha. PNG with alpha has been tested in Affinity Photo, Affinity Publisher, GIMP, Krita, and the Chrome and Firefox browsers. Images can also be pasted as stencils with alpha support in the sculpt and texture paint modes. Alpha channels of some non-standard clipboard formats might not be handled, so results can vary by source application.
Styriam Clipboard Paster is listed as free in this catalog. Licensing terms can change, so check the developer's page for the current details before you download. The add-on also has a synergy with Styriam ICC Image Compressor: if you own both, you can compress batches of files with mozJPEG and OptiPNG by importing them through Clipboard Paster. Note that the tool runs on Windows only.
