Theme Tamer earns its place in the Blender extensions library for focusing theme editing into auto-grouping, batch edits and shareable templates. It requires no special permissions.
Theme Tamer is a theme editor add-on for Blender built by 3DDinosaur to streamline theme creation. From the top of the Themes tab, it can auto-group properties by color from your favorite themes, by property labels, or into groups you define yourself. You can then batch-edit properties by group and save your new theme with Blender.
Finding properties is handled by picking directly from the UI, using a color-based filter combined with label search. Value changes are revertible. The add-on also supports exporting and importing templates so themes can be shared with the community, or simply made available for others to auto-group from.
The current release, version 3.3.4, brings code efficiencies, improved group search results and display, and a fix for cached property values not updating after edits. It requires no special permissions and is compatible with Blender 4.2 LTS and newer.

Theme Tamer is compatible with Blender 4.2 LTS and newer, so it runs on the 4.2 long-term support release and later versions. The current release is version 3.3.4, published April 24th, 2026. If you are on an older Blender build, you would need to update to at least 4.2 LTS before installing the add-on. Check the developer's page for the full version history if you need details on earlier releases.
Theme Tamer can be added by dragging and dropping it into Blender, or by downloading the add-on file and installing it from disk through Blender's extensions preferences. The add-on is distributed as a small package, around 23.9 KB in size. Once installed, its controls appear at the top of the Themes tab, where you can begin auto-grouping and batch-editing theme properties.
Theme Tamer is listed as free here and is released under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later. That license covers how the add-on may be used, modified and shared. For the current licensing terms and any updates, refer to the developer's page. The extension also states that it does not require special permissions, so no additional access is needed to run it inside Blender.
Theme Tamer version 3.3.4 introduces code efficiencies along with improved group search results and display. It also fixes an issue where cached property values were not updating after edits, meaning some operators such as search and auto-group were considering old, initial values when applying their functions.
