Why we like it

Visibility Check earns its spot for tackling a specific, familiar annoyance: the stray mesh that shows up only at render time. Version 2.5.2 renamed the panel and fixed the button order in the list along with the icons for 'Hide in Viewport'.

What is Visibility Check?

Visibility Check adds a panel to Blender for spotting objects and collections whose viewport state differs from their render state. A mismatch means something is hidden in the viewport but not in the render, or the other way around. The check also covers collections, as long as they aren't marked excluded in the Render Layer.

The panel runs a Check Visibility pass that lists mismatched items, with a Show Collections option for collections that don't match. From the same list you can Equalize to Render to set viewport visibility to match render, or Equalize to Viewport to do the reverse. Select Object picks an item in the viewport, either through the selection arrow or by clicking the entry directly.

After installation, the add-on sits under 3D Viewport -> N-Panel -> K-Tools -> Visibility Check. It's compatible with Blender 4.2 LTS and newer, requires no special permissions, and is released under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later.

Who is Visibility Check best for?

Visibility Check is best for blender artists who want to catch objects or collections that render differently than they appear in the viewport before pressing F12.

How much does Visibility Check cost?

Visibility Check is completely free to download and use.

Frequently asked questions

Does Visibility Check work with Blender 4.2?

Visibility Check is compatible with Blender 4.2 LTS and newer. An earlier legacy build targeted Blender 4.1, but the current 2.5.2 release lists 4.2 LTS and newer as its supported range. If you're on an older version, check the developer's page for details before installing, since the legacy and current builds differ.

Where does Visibility Check appear after installation?

Visibility Check installs to the 3D Viewport's N-Panel, under a tab called K-Tools. Open the N-Panel in the 3D Viewport and look for K-Tools -> Visibility Check to reach the controls, including the Check Visibility pass, the Show Collections toggle, and the two Equalize options. The panel keeps everything in one place rather than spreading it across menus.

Does Visibility Check handle collections as well as objects?

Visibility Check covers both objects and collections. For collections, it flags mismatched visibility as long as the collection isn't marked excluded in the Render Layer. A Show Collections option displays collections whose viewport and render states don't match, listed alongside the object results so you can review both from the same panel.

What license is Visibility Check released under?

Visibility Check is released under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later. The extension also states that it requires no special permissions. It's listed as free here; see the developer's page for the current licensing terms before you rely on it in a project.
