Lazy Utils earns its place in the superhive library for smoothing edge loops with a virtual curve that leaves the underlying data untouched.
Lazy Utils is a Blender add-on from Bookyakuno that smooths edge loops using curves. The edge shape is corrected to follow the curve, and you can adjust that shape by manipulating the curve's control points while the tool runs. Because the curve is created virtually, it doesn't pollute the data. It works with mesh edge, geometry, pose bone, and armature editing.
In mesh editing mode, setting the selection mode to Face automatically switches to a Geometry Mode that targets the entire selected geometry, placing a curve at the core of the shape, which is the center point when the geometry is sliced. If the selected mesh consists of multiple parts, the entire mesh is edited, and a smaller number of control points makes it easier to edit the whole mesh smoothly.
Options let you set the number of control points (Q/W), equalize the spacing between vertices (A), and make the curve smoother and flatter with each press of S. The curve point size and line width in the UI can be changed in the add-on settings, and the tool runs from the Alt + Shift + C keymap.
Lazy Utils is best for blender artists smoothing edge loops and reshaping mesh geometry, along with pose bone and armature editing.
Lazy Utils is completely free to download and use.
Lazy Utils lists Blender 5.1 as its supported version, so it aligns with that release for smoothing edge loops using curves. The add-on works across mesh edge, geometry, pose bone, and armature editing, and it runs from the Alt + Shift + C keymap. For the most current compatibility details across Blender versions, check the developer's page before installing so you know it matches your setup.
Lazy Utils is triggered by the Alt + Shift + C keymap. During execution you can adjust the shape by manipulating the curve's control points, change how many control points appear with Q and W, equalize vertex spacing with A, and press S to make the curve smoother and flatter each time. Since the curve is created virtually, running the tool does not pollute the data you're working on.
Lazy Utils switches into Geometry Mode automatically when you're in mesh editing mode and the selection mode is set to Face, targeting the entire selected geometry. A curve is placed at the core of the shape, which is the center point when the geometry is sliced. If the selected mesh consists of multiple parts, the entire mesh is edited, and using fewer control points makes it easier to edit the whole mesh smoothly.
Lazy Utils is listed as free in this catalog and is distributed under the GPL license. Licensing terms can change over time, so for the current pricing and license details it's best to check the developer's page directly before you download. A demo video is also available if you'd like to see the add-on before deciding, and the documentation is linked from the same page.
