Printing Helper earns its spot in the Blender extensions library by turning print-size setup into a paper-size and DPI selection, with standards for North American, ANSI, Architectural and ISO formats built in.
Printing Helper is a Blender add-on for setting the render resolution needed for printing without manual pixel-to-dimension math. It automatically sets pixel count based on physical size and PPM, referred to as DPI in Photoshop, so render output can match print requirements.
The add-on works in both directions: enter a resolution to see the actual print dimensions, or select a target print size to have the required resolution calculated. It ships with international paper standards, covering North American formats like Letter, Legal, Ledger and Tabloid, ANSI A through E, Architectural Arch A to Arch E3, and the ISO A, B and C series. Version 0.1.2 added a preset Z series format.
DPI management includes presets for 72, 150 and 300 alongside custom DPI input and real-time preview of output at different values. You work from the Printing Helper panel in Render Properties: pick a paper size or enter custom dimensions, set the DPI, and Blender sets the resolution. The developer describes the workflow as tailored for architects, graphic designers and product designers.
Printing Helper is best for architects, graphic designers and product designers who need render output to match specific physical print dimensions.
Printing Helper is completely free to download and use.
Printing Helper is built for Blender 4.5 LTS and newer, so it runs on the current long-term-support release and later versions, with 4.5.0 listed as the minimum. One reviewer reported using it in a Blender 5.0 beta as well. It installs as a standard add-on and places its panel in Render Properties. On an older Blender build you would need to update before the add-on will enable. Check the developer's GitHub page for the latest compatibility details before installing.
Printing Helper ships with a range of international paper size standards. That covers North American formats such as Letter, Legal, Ledger and Tabloid, the ANSI A through E sizes, Architectural formats from Arch A to Arch E3, and the ISO A, B and C series like A4, A3 and B5. Version 0.1.2 also added a preset Z series format. You select a target paper size in the panel, or enter custom dimensions, then set a DPI value to have Blender calculate the matching resolution.
Printing Helper installs like any Blender extension. You can drag and drop the add-on into Blender, or download the zip and install it from disk. To do it manually, open Edit then Preferences, select the Add-ons tab, click Install, choose the downloaded zip file, and enable the add-on. Once enabled, the Printing Helper panel appears in Render Properties, where you pick a paper size or enter custom dimensions and set your DPI value.
Printing Helper is listed here as free, and it is distributed under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later. The developer notes that the extension requires no special permissions. The add-on is a compact download and has been picked up several thousand times through the Blender extensions platform. For current licensing terms and any changes, check the developer's GitHub page linked with this listing.
