Earns its place in the Blender extensions library for handling A-channel editing directly, a task that is usually more cumbersome in the standard vertex painting workflow.
YL VertexColForge provides a direct workflow for editing Vertex Color and Color Attribute data in Blender. Whether the target channel is RGB, R, G, B, or A, its fill, brush, gradient, random, and conversion operations write accurately to that channel without affecting the others. It also makes A-channel editing easier in workflows where it is usually more cumbersome, and supports both Face Corner and Vertex / Point color attribute domains.
Single-channel preview is powered by Geometry Nodes and is non-destructive, showing R, G, B, or A as grayscale in the viewport with the preview channel kept in sync with the write channel. You can write to the current channel directly in Object Mode or Edit Mode without switching to Vertex Paint Mode, sample a channel value on the mesh and drag to adjust tolerance for selection, and draw gradients in the 3D View or in UV space.
The plugin suits game assets, material masks, vertex color weights, channel packing data, and Alpha channel preview, letting you complete channel generation, editing, organization, and pre-export checking inside Blender. Interface text is available in thirteen languages.
YL VertexColForge is best for blender artists working on game assets, material masks, vertex color weights, channel packing data, and Alpha channel preview.
YL VertexColForge is completely free to download and use.
YL VertexColForge is compatible with Blender 4.2 LTS and newer. To get started, install and enable the add-on, select a mesh object in the 3D View, and press N to open the sidebar. From there you open the YL VertexColForge panel and begin editing after enabling channel preview. The tool works inside Blender, letting you complete the full workflow from channel generation, editing, and organization to pre-export checking without leaving the application.
YL VertexColForge writes fill, brush, gradient, random, and conversion operations accurately to the current target channel without affecting the others, whether that channel is RGB, R, G, B, or A. Its channel brush can paint a single channel directly, including the A channel, which is often cumbersome in the standard vertex painting workflow. With single-channel preview enabled, you can view the Alpha grayscale result while painting the A channel in real time, keeping the remaining channels untouched.
YL VertexColForge supports both Face Corner and Vertex / Point color attribute domains for Vertex Color / Color Attribute data. Its channel packing tools let you copy, swap, invert, and normalize R / G / B / A data and pack masks from different sources into the same attribute. It also converts data bidirectionally between Image, Vertex Group Weights, and Vertex Color channels, acting as a data bridge for export to game engines, material systems, or later texture conversion workflows.
YL VertexColForge is listed as free in this catalog and is licensed under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later. Bundled assets follow the respective licenses of their resource files. For the most current licensing details, source code, and releases, check the developer's page on GitHub. The plugin's interface supports thirteen languages, including English, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, Japanese, Korean, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, and Vietnamese.
